Im in NY for the summer and I dont have my buffer or anything so I just put some flyers out hoping to get a few washing jobs on the side.

How much would you charge for

-through wash on entire body and rims
-vacuum
-clean all windows inside and out
-wipe down dash
-dress and clean tires and fender wells
-hand wax

How much would you charge for something like this?

For SUV`s/Trucks?
For Cars?

Thanks alot,
Blake

$40 an hour is what I would charge. That job would take two or three hours on a normal sized sedan and probably three or four hours on a larger SUV. I`d just charge accordingly depeding on how fast you can work and what you want to make per hour. Another good idea is to scope out local detail shops and see what they charge. You can charge the same thing and tell them that you aren`t charging extra for the convenience of coming to them. :)

$40 sounds fair to a customer specially the ones with SUVs.

You might want to check and see what others in your area are charging for this type of job...so as not to price yourself out of work

Wait a sec.... You`d do a wash, dry, tires and trim, interior vacuum, dash, clean all the windows, and wax an Explorer for $40 bucks?? Man, sign me up and you can detail my Pilot for me. That kind of service is at least worth $80 or $90 bucks. Call around and check pricing on those services. Don`t sell yourself short and spend all afternoon making less than what the market will bear. If people will pay $80 with a smile on their face and you are only charging $40 then you are losing money.

Whats sad is I started detailing at 14...I used to do all of that for $30 total...and it took me like 3 to 4 hrs. This was my entry into detailing...before knowing what a buffer can actually do...looking back at it now I wonder what I was thinking...
