Since the rumor seems to be all over the internet, I figured it just as well be here, too.

The word on the street is that Mike Phillips is leaving Meguiar`s.

I was at a Saturday clinic at Meguiars in Irvine last Saturday and Mike broke the news to us that he was resigning this week to start his own detail business. He is opening his own shop with his business partner Richard (octaneguy) in Plascentia, CA and running showcargarage.com. He has been pretty frustrated with Barry limiting the amount of outside teaching and road shows he can do. Judging from all the new material and the Road Show sign-up that went up on showcargarage.com today, I`m guessing he dropped the bomb already at Meguiars.

But then again you could be right about that...

good for him, if he is wanting to start his own thing then all the power to him. I would be interested in seeing what it is like. I wish the best of luck to him

........He is opening his own shop with his business partner Richard (octaneguy) in Plascentia, CA and running showcargarage.com.........Those are two very talented detailers who should do very well together. I might try to make that Road Show up in Indy later this month.

Best of luck to Mike & octaneguy.
Truely seems like Megs is losing a valueable asset.

From the Meg`s forum:

"Here`s the skinny...

As of today I have resigned from my employment with Meguiar`s Inc. I will be staying on until Friday to help the people that will be taking my place learn to take over the Admin functions I currently perform. Beginning Friday afternoon I will be doing the same job I have always performed for Meguiar`s, that is answering how-to questions, writing articles and teaching classes only I will be doing these things on my own forum and at my own show approximately 14 miles North of Meguiar`s Irvine location.

I have often times in my life in posts on various forums stated that I am in this for the long run... this is a true statement.

I`ll post a more organized and formal post before the end of day on Friday. http://meguiarsonline.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif"

Mike

he`s a super cool guy, and he might just come to Calgary. :D:D
The guy just has insane skills all over the place! The guy is pretty much the master of the rotary...and paint in general. I had the opportunity to watch him work on car, when I was in SoCal, and he can get results that no one else can get...even with the same products and techniques. I think he might be magical.

Dwayne and I have met Mike at one of Meguiars seminars recently and I will agree that he is a great guy and I know he will be missed at Meguiars. As far as being "Magical" I can`t say for sure. :)

I will always know him as the the one who many people quote as saying " Use what you like and use it often".
