How does everyone clean your pads? How often do you clean them?

I wash them with the hose...spray them off, shake water out.. and air dry them..

I spray a solution of simple green into the pad, rinse, place in CLEAN bucket of dawn and water and soak for a little while, remove them and squeeze out excess water, rinse, spin dry on PC, and then air dry.

I soak them in the kitchen sink with some dishwashing liquid and luke warm water (while my wife is gone, of course:D ). Then, I squeeze/squish `em around like a sponge in the soapy water until all of the product is removed. Rinse with cold water. Wring out and let air dry. Spinning them with the PC on high speed also works well.

Does anyone use one of those pad washers?
They look pretty cool and I bet they clean those pads out good.

I have seen them used in detail shops before and they seemed to work great. I think the drawback is the price, I think they are really expensive.

What about that little tool you are supposed to stick against the pad at a low speed? It supposed to get rid of any dried product in the pads, or so I read.
Anyone use this?

You mean a pad spur? I use a spur to get dried polish out of my wool pads. I use a toothbrush on my foam pads and then soak on degreaser and water.

You are right the pad washer is real expensive. I believe over $150.

Ive just been considering washing all of the pads in a washing machine, instead of messing with the rest.

LOL...kind of like storing containers of worms and other bait in the frig before or after a fishing trip. LOL
I usually soak them in some simple green and water in a 5 gallon bucket. Soak for maybe 15-30 minutes, kneed them with my fingers to release the residual product then soak in cold clean water for another 15-30 minutes. Wring dry, sometimes spin on the rotary, then air dry for the remainder.
I`ve even tossed them in the washing machine with liquid Tide or Gain. Come out like brand spanking new! Whatever you do, I wouldn`t machine dry them. The velcro backing can come loose.

You see I get lucky. My mom lets me get a whole washer load all to myself, and then the same for the stuff thats safe for machine dry. She even FOLDS the MF towels...life is good.

Do not wait till next day to wash....i lost a few pads that way...
My wife washes MF`s not pad`s...I air dry them in the garage..

Its always nice to walk into the laundry room and see a pile of car detailing stuff.
Big nice pile of neatly folded MF towels, just begging to get dirty again.

I hose em off and then turn up the makita to 6000rpms and let it rip and watch the mist go off.
