I found this site while looking for tips on detailing. I just purchased a 1969 Chrysler Newport convertible. My 93yr old neighbor has owned it for 30 years, and lovingly looked after it until he recently lost his license. My kids have ridden in it from the time they were old enough to sit alone. It is in pretty good shape, but hasn`t had a good detailing in years and since it has so much sentimental value I want to make sure I don`t harm it in any way. I hope I can get tips and help with bringing out the beauty in the old girlhttps://www.autopia.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=37985&stc=1

Congrats on a very nice car, and welcome to the Forum !

Believe in 1969, they were still using acrylic lacquer or acrylic enamel... Probably more enamel.. It looks like that paint is still pretty nice, so I assume it must have been garaged for most of its life, right ?

Yes covered and winter stored. I haven`t washed it yet to give it a good look, but did notice a few cracks on the deck around the trunk lid, doesn`t appear to be coming up at all. I am trying to figure out my best approach for the old finish
