When in the process of cleaning (washing) do you use the RaggTop cleaner and when do you apply the RaggTop protectant?
Or do you use both the RaggTop products at the same time??
Seems to be a lot of angst with some Autopians using RaggTop products, especially applying the aerosol spray protectant.

Is this Porsche color the Gentain Blue Metallic?? Car looks more than stunning , but what Porsche doesn`t once it is detailed by the best!
(OK, so Captain Obvious is "greatly" biased toward Porsches and enamored by Merlin`s detailing prowess)

The first thing I do is "clean" the convertible top. This is done with the RT cleaner and their (green) scrub brush.
Then the top is dried. After the top is dry I use the Fabric Protectant...then I make a drop cloth to cover the top.
This is kept on during the entire polishing process tho keep any polish dust and splatter from getting on the top.

Thank you, thank you, thank you (Geez Captain Obvious, you sound like Gomer Pyle!) for the in-depth explanation and photos of how you use RaggTop on a fabric convertible. What may seem so "obvious" and common sense within the detailing process when and how this is done was not to myself, hence my question. I do like the plastic drop sheet for protection during the correction and polishing process.

i know some do the top as a LAST step and tape off areas around the fabric top with painter`s tape and newspaper to protect such area when applying the spray protectant. I was told one of the tricks to using this spray is to apply a light coat and then do this again 90° to the direction (criss-cross) of that first coat after it dries (45- 60 minutes, depending on the ambient temperature), rather than ONE heavy coat. I do one "medium" coat myself, on half the top, going in the front-to-back direction rather than the door-to-door direction, then go to the other side to complete. Yes, the middle gets some overlap. Hey, we all have our preferences and processes.
