Beautiful work. I believe this is the first motorcycle I’ve seen here.

Beautiful work. I believe this is the first motorcycle I’ve seen here.

Harley-Davidson motorcycles are my first love and very different to detail than a car.

I start with cleaning the wheels. This involves removing the saddlebags to get to the rear wheels. I use S100 all-cycle-cleaner on the wheels, then brush them and rinse then clean.

LOVE these pics.

Nuts that most of the work was done with the iBrid. End results, as expected from Merlin, are great!

LOVE these pics.

Thank you. I tried something different than the standard 50/50 pics. These are kinda studio style pics.

Nuts that most of the work was done with the iBrid.

Actually, the iBrid worked out great for doing this motorcycle.
It allowed me to get the fairing, fenders, under the fuel tank etc. and into the many small curved areas with ease.

NOTE: When I`m working close I put a duct tape on the head.
This helps alleviate any fear of bumping other parts (chrome etc.) with the head of the iBrid during the correction.

End results, as expected from Merlin, are great!

Thank you. That is very kind.

Looks fantastic!

The million nooks and crannies make me cringe.

Looks fantastic!

Thank you! It was fun to do.

The million nooks and crannies make me cringe.

The nooks and crannies are not all that bad...the tricky part is...

1) Keep water away from the electrics on the engine.

2) Keep water away from the electronics on the inside of the fairing.
Head unit, controls, speakers, gauges (not waterproof except speedo)

3) Use a short nap 100% Australian Sheep Skin - wool wash mitt.
A regular Merino Wool wash mitt has long strands that can get caught.

I start with cleaning the wheels.
This involves removing the saddlebags to get to the rear wheels.
I use S100 Total Cycle Cleaner on the wheels, then brush them and rinse them clean.

NOTE: S100 has a Wheel cleaner and a Total Cycle Cleaner (I prefer the milder Total Cycle Cleaner)

This can be a little tricky as access to the rear wheel is limited even with the saddlebags off.

4) A careful rinse to clean the wheels before proceeding to the rest of the motorcycle.
Once the wheels are done (leave the electronics side covers on) you can foam the entire bike.

5) This is where you get in there with the short nap wool wash mitt for the nooks and crannies.
Wash and rinse then use a blower to get all the water out, again being careful of the electrics.

6) Now you can remove the seat and clean the rear fender and gas tank area that`s under the seat.
There are electrics/electronics under the seat so I suggest a waterless wash for those areas.

7) It is best for drying the "million nooks and crannies" to use a Metrovac or equivalent blower.

8) Once the bike has been completely dried then the two side covers can be removed for polishing.

That`s the washing, cleaning, and decon if needed part...next is the polishing...

IMPORTANT:
Although you can clean the tires with a quality tire cleaner never ever dress tires on a motorcycle.
Motorcycles lean to turn and use the entire radius of the tire. Tire dressings can cause injury & death.

CAUTION:
Do not dress the rubber on the driver pegs and floorboards and passenger pegs/floorboards.
If the rider/passenger foot slides off a slippery floorboard it can cause serious injury or death.

Now do you feel warm and fuzzy? Are you ready to detail your first motorcycle?

Actually, done right, the amount of time to wash, decon, polish and coat are about the same as a car.
