So in rolled this used IS F, great looking vehicl[COLOR=#4B4F56][FONT=Helvetica]e that hasn`t been cared for in a while. Lots of different type of paint defects and issues.

Headlights were cloudy and had a slight chemical haze on it. It cleaned up really quickly with a really hard compound step.

Pulled out the microscope to take a deeper look at this defect on the driver side, I knew it was going to be impossible to completely remove it but I wanted to take a closer look into the paint to see what the issue was. Looks like chemical burn/etch, it did clear up slightly as you can see in the next microscopic picture. Not all defects are removable.

A few other pictures of the typical swirls in the paint and tail light.

Next up was the hood, this vehicle has had a rough life down the road.... looks like something was spilled on the road, onto the entire hood/roof/trunk of the vehicle and left on the paint to create these small circle etchings. Some sanding was necessary to reduce these spots. I mainly focused on the hood as it was a HUGE eye sore. Started off with 2500 grit sandpaper and later feathered out the edges with 3000. Again, it`s not perfect but now its not an eyesore.

Final product was CarPro Cquartz UK, very impressed with the 3.0 version lately so I am sticking with it for now.

Awesome work and write up and pictures!

It`s interesting to see how the real world is sometimes and not just the perfect. And you did what you could and delivered the car as good as possible. That was some serious etching. It`s talks on description of the protection but I have never seen such damage. Acid rain is what I think of. Could this be something like that or does it seen differently out? Was thinking the roof etching looked very strange.

The owner must be thrilled to got his car in presenteble condition.

i think it was something spilled from the road and flung up onto the car. it started at the front of the hood and had a V cone shaped spread, so it splattered and spreaded then eventually worked it ways to the top and to the trunk. the passenger side of the vehicle came out almost perfect, it had no weird etching or dings.

customer actually purchased the vehicle off Ebay, sight unseen.... lol. i didnt get a chance to ask them where in the US it came from.

I have seen brake cleaner spray do that to clear coat before leaving deep etched circles on the paint.

Those two types of spots keep popping up on the AG forum. No one has had a definitive answer on what is causing them or how to repair them.
