Does anybody use household products on there cars, and what products do you use.

Goo Gone
Oxy Clean
APC like 409 and Simple Green can all be used in the house

That`s all I can think of at the moment and all that I am using

Really I`m such a jar head that I have a full stock of products that are dedicated for car detailing....I haven`t really thought about household products as a cross over

I use:

Oxy clean
409 at time in the interior
Oven cleaner on some nasty nasty wheels that acid had no effect on.
SOS pads on some suspension areas or underneath the car.

Oven Cleaner that`s interesting how effect is this for removing the baked in dust on rims and what about staining or clouding up some finishes??

This week I used zep orange degreaser designed to clean stainless steel on the lower portions of a vehicle because the tar was sooo stubborn...is this safe?

Woolite, Spot Shot, Bon Ami, Magic Eraser, Swiffers, Isopropyl alcohol....

I`m sure there`s more. Lots of household items come in quite handy at times.

How about adding what you do with the stuff?

Its the "cold use" oven cleaner, not the "heat me up" oven cleaner. I found that leavign it on for 2-3 minutes and taking a stiff poly bristle tooth brush scrubbing, works wonders. I do not use this on high dollar rims, just somethign wrong about it. But if I am doing a neglected car, and acid doesn;t touch the brake dust etc, I use it then. It does not seem to harm the finish at all.
