I threw my back out over the weekend. so I had my daughter take the jag in to get the summer tires put on it. She came home with this recommendation sheet. Almost every thing on this lis has been done in the last 5 thousand miles. Then the end links do need to be changed out, but it`s the front ones that are needed. https://www.autopia.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=34743&stc=1

That’s rediculous. I’d be lighting into them
Tire change and you get that quote. Lmao.

Side note for your back. Look into Stuart McGill and the back mechanic. I’ve got some herniated disc or something going on so been doing rehab stuff.

bird dogs.
Side planks (30second hold)
Reg planks
Sciatic nerve flossing
And his version of a sit up (part of “the big three”

If they did the work in the last 5k miles yeah that’s embarrassing but if they didn’t I would imagine they just look at mileage and history and give you the standard service recommendations. Too much risk to pull spark plugs out and check them for an attempted upsell and the people can’t tell these days if fluid has 5 miles on it or 50000 unless you have one that significantly changes appearance.

Keep your head up it’s the way 98% of shops run

Damn ... I`m glad I go to a shop that let`s you know what you DON`T need done instead of trying to up-sell. They only mention things if they are definitely needed, are getting close to being needed or dangerous.

Coleroad- What really bugs me is the idea that they probably saw your daughter and thought they could take advantage of a woman with a nice car. I somehow doubt that a, uhm...certain type of man...would`ve been given that exact same list.

I`ve heard and read about people being given recommendation sheets like this. I just had never gotten one before. We have only lived here in Colorado since October. They did change over the summer to winter tires last fall, the only service they`ve done. They didn`t give me any recommendation for service then. I`m just assuming since it was my daughter this time, they tried to take advantage.
