So for the most part I tend to use Cobra Supreme 530s for most everything paint related. Removing polishing residue, leveling coatings, detail spray, waterless washes etc.

Recently I have been getting involved with IGL coatings and have been testing it on my own car. When I went to remove it using the short nap side of the towel it worked ok but not the greatest. I switched to a new cheap store bought variety pack microfiber towel and it worked great lol.

This started to make me ponder what everyone else uses for leveling coatings?

I use the CarPro suede towels. I find they work well for leveling coatings I use. Two of the suede towels. One for initial wipe and then one to follow up and then I use a third 800GSM Everest towel from the Rag Company as a final wipe on the area just to be sure lol.

I have found the Costco towels work pretty well too.

+1 CarPro Suedes, I use the 40x40`s and fold. I used to like the old Arctic White towels because they were super silky and were nice for coatings, but the new version isn`t as silky.

Same here on the Suede Towels. Except the bike I did this week I did use the Supreme 530 long nap side and it worked great. That was with OGC which is always a breeze to knock down high spots though. Ray I love the old Arctic White towels too with the black silk border. So soft! I haven`t tried the new ones but that is a bummer. I wish I had more than 3 of the old ones.

I have been using the Edgeless 300 from TRC. I have them in blue and yellow and use the blue with the short nap side for the 1st buff/level and use the yellow with the longer nap for the final buff.

Thanks for the input guys. I spoke with the IGL rep earlier and he said a shorter nap towel works best.

Yes, I`ve been using shorter nap for IGL as well. It definitely is a bit trickier than most coatings IMO.

Another vote for the CarPro suede towels. They work well and their Orange color make them easy to distinguish from normal towels.

Which Griots PFM towel did you use?

Polish removal as well.

MJ : it`s their white ones...

It`s just due to non flagged/loop.
Kinda has a ~cut~ to it when wiping

During development of our coating, I used several styles of towels and found the low nap 300GSM towels (similar to what Ancient_1 posted above) work best for initial residue removal and leveling. This is why I chose to include them with each purchase. After a couple panels I`ll go back with long nap 450GSM towels and do a "final" wipe using little pressure.
