Thoughts on the different manufactures pads. I`m ordering a new machine w/ pads + ordering addition pads since I`m there. Yeah IK the Rupes pads are thicker vs the Boss ones. I`ve used the Boss pads, so maybe I`ll go w/ those + I`ll toss in some m/f pads too.

Boss pads, if using boss machine, stay with a system approach. Rupes with rupes

Just to add, I`ve narrowed my machine choices down to a Duetto or a G15.

I use the B&S Uro-Tecs with my G15 and they are fantastic pads. Makes the G15 run even smoother than normal.

I tried Buff and Shine Grip Pads, the hex face they make for CG, LC Hydrotech, the original HD orbitals, and the Meguiar`s foam and microfiber discs.

I like to stick with the system approach with it.

If I use my own systems, I`m more at home with the PC 7424, or 7424xp.

I can see thou`s used on the mk2`s w/ power. But on a Duetto or the legacy machines. Wonder why Rupes went w/ the thicker pads for their machines?

I have both and I use both on my machines(G21 & MK2 15)

I prefer to stay with a system approach, but I have no problem interchanging them. There is a very marked difference when using Rupes pads with the Rupes tools. Everything is weighted and designed for maximum ergonomics. It`s not just BS either - first time I used a Rupes pad on the Rupes I went out and ordered 6 more. Difference is night and day, IMO.

If you get a G15 go with the Boss pads. Microfiber + Yellow, IMO.

They`re all good pads and each have their pros and cons IMO. Staying within a system will obviously minimize vibration but the only Rupes pads I liked were the yellow and white. The green and blue are too firm for my taste and I always cut with MF anyway, plus the Megs MF Finishing pads run like butter on both Rupes and BOSS tools. I will say I prefer the BOSS pads overall but their thin design can also make polishing more challenging on some complex curved panels. The thicker foam of the Rupes pads allow them to contour better but IMO the diameter of the pads is too large and I prefer the more traditional sized 5" and 6" pads.

Tons of good pads to chose from today and I honestly don`t think you can go wrong with anything from LC, B&S, Rupes, Megs, or Griot`s. I have and still use pads from all 5 of them, regardless of tool.

The Rupes yellow pad on a Rupes machine is a smooth, buttery slice of heaven. Pretty effective as well.
