Had my car repainted in some areas. How long do I need to wait before I apply a coating ?

Atleast 3 months I believe is general time but I would go longer if possible to allow all the chemical stuff that seeps out as it cures to come out otherwise it could get that hazy look. In the past I was told 6 months but lately it`s been bout 3 months. Although I was told pure caranuba can be applied after. 30-45 days. But those who do painting may have better knowledge and advice

thanks for the reply. It`s going to be painstakingly hard to wait 90 days. I`ll need to find something else to spend my time on.

30-90 days is the typical range. You can use a product like Meguiar`s M305 as it is fresh paint safe.

Optimum Wax is also safe for fresh paint. I just got my Lacrosse out of the paint shop a few weeks ago. Kinda weird doing it, but I did the freshly-painted hood, front bumper and entire left side with HD Polish and OCW, then the untouched panels with DG105/601. In another month or so, I`ll top it all with Colli 915 or 476 for winter`s wrath.

Yes, that. After decades of using fresh-paint-safe glazes I tried OCW after Ford declared it OK for "post-production paintwork" and it`w worked fine, no interference with the curing/outgassing, the paint ended up nice and hard after a few months.

As for anything that`s not *known safe*/tested-OK I`d wait at least 90 days.
