I received a text a couple months ago from someone who was looking to spruce up their C5 before they sold it. While meeting up with the owner and looking at his Corvette, he mentioned how he had purchased a new WRX and wanted it to be corrected and coated before winter hit. We never got around to scheduling his Vette, but this weekend he brought me his WRX for a correction and Beeds Ceramic Paint Treatment.

I was recently certified to use Beeds after inquiring with the distributor here in the USA. Beeds is manufactured in Singapore, backed by Japanese technology and research. It is solvent free, which means it won’t harm you, but it makes it easy to use because once it’s on the paint, it’s on. You only have to let it sit for about a minute before removing it, which is a breeze. I played around with it on my brother’s car to get the hang of it before offering it as a service.

Beeds promises a three year lifetime and is warranty backed. I wanted to find a coating like this that I could offer customers who wanted something to last longer than the consumer grade stuff anyone can buy. However, I was having trouble with that since most companies want full time shops, which I am not (only part time). Understandable, but a bit annoying if you ask me.

As for the process of installing it, it’s the same as any other coating. Suede towel wrapped around a block, a few drops on the pad, apply in a cross-hatch pattern, let it sit for a minute, and buff off using different high plush towels. High spots are easily removed by buffing off, even if you missed a spot and came back to it a few minutes later. Next to Mckee`s, this is the easiest coating I`ve used.

Anyway, the process for the job was a standard correction and coating prep. Everyone jokes about soft Subaru paint, but it made correcting this car so easy. Carpro Essence was used to correct the paint, I used Meguiar’s microfiber cutting pads for 90% of the job. Smaller areas were used with Rupes Yellow Foam pads. Some spots I watched the swirls disappear in a single pass.

Here is a gyf of the WRX after I had finished correcting & coating it - https://gfycat.com/AliveObviousCardinal

A lot of companies are leaning towards the professional shop only idea. I talked to the Tac Systems guys and they said they are leaning that way too. I dont know how many "Pro" coating installers there are but there are zero within a 100 mile radius of where I live. I would charge big money to give a 3 year warranty on any coating currently on the market. As far as I know no coating is bulletproof or bubbaproof enough for me to offer a three year warranty that is actually not full of loopholes. I would like to read one of these warranties. The only "coating" warranty I have seen is the one new car dealers try to push and they are worthless (to the customer).

If I remember correctly Guz did a thread on the warranties....

Great work!

I was speaking with the Beeds USA rep as well a while ago about becoming an authorized dealer. I am in the same boat as I only do this part time and it would be nice to be able to offer a pro coating to customers. I also like the fact it is VOC free and application seems easy. I may pull the trigger at some point soon.

In terms of BEEDS warranty I have a copy of the BEEDS warranty card. Hopefully no issue with posting this but I will paraphrase:

For the 3 year warranty the coating has to be applied by a BEEDS approved detailer and regular maintenance/ upkeep has to be provided on the vehicle by the approved detailer. No warranty claim for rock chips, stone chips, vandalism (key scratches or deep scratches), accidents (repaint of panel due to accidents), or clear coat failure. Warranty is non transferable.

So if the person just wants the coating and doesn`t want to use your maintenance program and decides to either maintain the vehicle themselves or use a non-accredited detailer for upkeep and an issue arises with the coating then the warranty is really void.

Thank you!

Yes, you hit it on the head. I wanted to be able to offer a pro coating to customers. Beeds and Ceramic Pro were the only ones who said yes. CP was too expensive for me to invest in, among other things.
