I started to work on my upgraded car, went from a
Gold 2011 toyota camry to a Black 2016 Chevy Malibu
I only wax her so I can polish as I have time.
My new lighting at 5000k x4 added to my 4000k x6 plus
2 scan grips and a flex flashlilght
Has allowed me to see things I must have been missing

Thats how I noticed the oil & smears left behind after polishing with my upgrade machine

I could not see them till I ran the scangrip over the paint

The main problem I ran head long into was.
I wiped down the section I was to polish with Eraser,

Then I had these to use, my favorites

http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161015/1cf2e220c330bc2483dc9d809bb716b2.jpg

Started by edging with my Flex PE8 still good,
When I used the Rupes with a 3in. Orange LC lopro With Scholls s30+ it dried fast and was hard to remove
Then I tried Rupes diamond with a LC orange HD, same.
So I tried a Surbuf pad and I thought it was going to go bald, The fuzz got thrown everywhere fast, plus the Diamond
Looked like it was soaking into the paint then drying, And hard to wipe off.
Next up was Sonax 04-06 with a pink LC flat pad, thinking regular foam would help. The power of my Rupes made the tiny bit I put on , splatter. 2 drops rubbed into pad, but easier to remove.

I checked my work and still small scratches, like I did nothing, sure was slick & shinny.
One more try with

And an orange LC Lopro, much better, long work time, easy wipe off,but the shine was Not there.
Even after going over it with a white Lopro.
Tired myself out doing something wrong, so It was Good but not great and I was running out of steam (After work project)
One more Eraser wipe down.
I sealed her up with PA and a black Lopro. Waxed with CGs 53 and a red LC Force 3.5in.

Liked the outcome, but the trip could have been better.
I`m Thinking too many layers of wax for a finish polish, that`s why the Fixer worked, had more cut.
(Trying to upgrade my pics, first Cam did not work out)

Your car looks fantastic, that metallic pops! Congrats on the new toys. Where did you get your led work lights from?

Thanks alot.

I used a Rupes Mini with 3.5 LC Thin Low Pro`s orange, black & red, and edged with a Flex Mini with LC 2" flat orange and 1" Flex green
Only had time to do the rear fenders and trunk area.
Thanks again Dan, my next try should be better, with a 1-2, compound/polish attack, for the 1" of wax I must have on.

Thanks Mike,

I did the roof last weekend, where I deliberately didn`t wax the last 2 coats, that turned out smooth and super shinny. This area was not smooth,
had like small bumps. So.. I will most likely redo it after I get the front, doors, wheels and glass done.

I got the lights from Menards, thought 4000k was good but 5000k so much better.

Later Mike

also try claying as well, it`ll pull a lot of the excess wax off or has in my experience

Huh, that has me scratching my head but if it works for you then I won`t be critical.

The way I use clay it doesn`t "pull" anything off, it shears off above-surface contamination that it bumps into while gliding along on top of a film of lube. Doesn`t do much of anything to my LSP unless I do something weird/wrong.

Generally for me but on some waxed surfaces it has done it that`s why I mentioned it, it`s always worth a shot

OK, wasn`t flaming or anything, and excess LSP isn`t something I`m very experienced with.

When I first got her about a month ago, I used a Cobra clay mitt on her, I can do it again when I foam her down with this

http://www.autopia.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=32141&stc=1

Think I`ll wash her a few times with this CGs Clear, It`s alot like CGs cleanslate but much more concentrated.
Wish Autopia carried this, really like it !
Thanks for your replies Guys ;)

Mary I have great results using Rupes polishes with the matching Rupes pads. Try using the Yellow followed by white and you will need sunglasses to look at your paint. I just used the green followed with white because I had some tree branch marks on my paint. The correction was completed with one section pass of each polish and no sling or dusting. Wiping off the polishes was very easy and left behind a gloss that was show quality. I did these section passes with a Rupes mini 3" with little to no pressure on the pads at speed 6. Your car looks new and really shines already nicely so the white should be all you need. I used Eraser as well after the white because I was applying a coating and the Eraser worked very well.My scan grip light works better in the darkness for finding minute defects or smudges on my metallic paint.

Thanks I will do that. Just the white was not enough but I do have yellow and white I can get the pads. Thanks again

Heh heh, well, that`s a *nice* way to put it! :D

But seriously, I find it a little challenging..expressing myself over the internet the same as I would IRL. (Eh, IRL I basically *NEVER* say "uhm.." and I don`t always self-censure the stuff I put in [brackets] online, where I want everything PG-13).

Always enjoy reading your posts.

Thanks, hopefully that makes up for some folks who don`t ;)
