This car was a referral. I love referrals as it means someone you have done work for is putting their reputation and word on the line for you so I take them seriously and try to make sure both people are very happy. The owner of this car is the wife of someone who used to paint cars on the side, so I wanted him to be very satisfied with the job.

Here it is as it arrived. They bought it used. I believe it is a re-paint due to the paint thickness being in the neighbourhood of 300 microns and there was a run under one door handle. There were these tiny little bubbles in the paint on the top surfaces...usually a sign of a re-paint as well. Those could not be fixed of course. There were also a ton of swirls and lots of chips too. I was going to be pulling the wheels so we chose Gloss Coat (double coat) rather than Finest to keep the cost down for them.

First up was washing the wheels. The barrels were done with BAM wheel cleaner followed by Zep Citrus. The faces were done with Zep Citrus too followed by the wash mitt with Megs HW. The wells were cleaned with LATA.

The car was washed with Megs HW followed by a decontamination wash of IronX paste. It was then brought inside and clayed with a clay towel.

Now it was time to remove the wheels. The barrels were intensively cleaned again with Tarminator and DG Squeaky Clean. The calipers were beyond repair. They`re going to get covered I was told. The wells were dressed. The barrels on the L side were double coated with Gloss Coat. The barrels on the R side were coated with DLux. I have asked the customer to report back to me on what stays cleaner longer and what seems to offer better protection. I`m interested to see. The faces were double coated with Gloss Coat. The tires were dressed with Opti Bond prior to being lowered to the ground. The wheels were then torqued to factory spec. Here are some action shots of doing the wheels:

Now it was time to smoke a cigar...I mean play with paint. I was very fortunate as an immensely kind AG member sent me a white wool pad from Polish Angel to try out to compare it to my ongoing favourite, the TB black wool pad. I must say that I was very, very impressed with this pad. It actually cut maybe a bit more than the TB pad and also finished down just as well. It is a hair smaller in diameter. I`ve priced them out to compare and the PA pad is $5 more in Canada than the TB pad is. I would gladly reach for either one in the future...it was that good. Here is a comparison of them:

It was a lot of work to remove the swirls in this car. The stripes helped as it cut down the amount of real estate I needed to correct as did being a convertible. I used Shine Supply Chop Top again and now reach for it first. It`s that good. It was followed up with Essence with a yellow B/S pad. The car was double coated with Gloss Coat followed by Opti Seal. The top was treated to DG 341 Marine water proofing stuff (it`s amazing for convertible tops). She also wanted the tonneau cover done so I dressed it with WETS. The exhaust tips were hand polished with Essence and a mf and then double coated as well. The rear trim was done with DLux.

Here it is all done:

I`ve said it before and I`ll say it again - nobody gets wheels clean like this! Always super impressed at your work, Richy.

I`ve been meaning to pick up some Squeaky Clean before I pull and coat my wheels but I only see it available in a 4oz size on DG`s website. Is that right?

Thanks kindly! The whole car (except the top) was given a double coat of Optimum Gloss Coat followed by a coat of Optimum Opti Seal.

Nice work!
Thanks bud!

Ron, that`s very kind; thanks so much.

Thanks kindly. I actually called DG and placed an order today. I asked Jerry about that. Even though that size is all that`s listed on the website, other sizes are available too. I got a quart of it today. Just call them and do the order over the phone. Any trouble, just say Jerry Bailey said you could get a bigger size.

Thanks very much Pat. I really appreciate how you always comment...it means a lot to me my friend.

Thanks very much!

Thanks for commenting! No, I wanted the top to stay up as the DG product had just been put on and it likes the heat to fully cure. I told them to leave it up for the afternoon.

Very nice.
Thanks man!
