Lightning Red Subaru WRX - Detailed by Lawrence

2 Subarus in a row....and this one is red (which I just love polishing).... so I was really in my element :grin: :hurray: And the fact that the owner had taken the time to come and spend a few days with me to make sure he knew how to properly maintain it afterward, made the detail all that more meaningful for me. Any detailer will tell you there is nothing more satisfying than turning a car around for someone who truly appreciates it!!!


Cleaning the engine bay was not in the scope of this detail, and so I started with the fender wells, tires and wheels - remember to always ensure the wheels are cool and that you use the appropriate cleaning products for your type of wheel (and braking components).

The car was then decontaminated and much to the owner`s surprise was full of iron contaminants and still felt very rough via the baggie test thereafter.

Ridiculously soft. Tons of WRX and Evo in Utah, so probably 25% of all vehicles I`ve done have been one of the two. Both pretty thin paint, but Evo paint doesn`t seem as soft.

First WRX was a learning experience. Haha

Thanks for the kind words everyone... and yes, it is pretty amazing just how soft the paint on these Subarus are... to date I have detailed 5 of them and all of them have been corrected using only SF4000 and either a finishing or polishing pad.

Just reinforces how important a test spot is prior to jumping into correction with a preconceived idea of what combo to use.

Give how little is required to correct these cars, can you just imagine how much paint has been unnecessarily removed by hacks using a rotary, wool pad and heavy compound - scary stuff.
