For as long as I have been at it there are still firsts that come along. This time is a full wheels off and coating on a new white 2016 GTR. I did confirm that this particular model has the scratch shield "self-healing" clear coat.

There is definitely a challenge to polishing out this type of clear but it can be done using some interesting techniques.

Really looking forward to doing this vehicle! Little teaser picture from the owner.

Hopefully being new it doesn`t need to much work but we all know how that goes lol. But yes that`s the plan. Cold polishing with m205 and ice water

Glad it`s white. You could try Essence at a low speed.

That`s actually crossed my mind too. I may do a test spot with that first.

Very cool - and I have to disagree with Ron, I actually like the wheels!

Get a ton of keyboard cleaner air sprayers, turn them upside down to quick chill the panels. Or a drum fan with a mister works awesome as well.

Self healing clearcoat? Sounds cool but is it easier to burn or anything with compounding?

I have spoken with a couple people who have both said that they have never had a issue with polishing the clear shield clear coat on the GTR. I will proceed with a test spot to tell me what needs to be done but here a link that explains why and how the cold polishing works.
