I`ve purchased a few coatings to test side by side but have a question.
What`s the point in laying the 2 if the base has a span of 3 up to 5, while the top has a definite 5 year perhaps more?

Here`s a quote
"The 2 products form a 3D matrix that creates a super strong coating.
They made to use together. "

How can the base make the top layer stronger? as the top layer is what will be exposed/abraided?

Only thing I can see the base doing is perhaps changing the look like how you sometimes top a sealant with a wax..

If the base is only good for 3 and top good for 5... Sounds like they both will fail at 3

What products are you specifically referring to?

I know Gtechniq suggests layering Exo on top of CSL, because while CSL offers better protection and durability, Exo is more slick and hydrophobic with better gloss.

Ive not heard of a coating system being marketed the way you mentioned.

Yeah but Gtechniq method makes sense
CSL will last longer then the top coat and that top coat will add a property the CSL lacks

Pearl Nano
Nano Base coat
Nano Pro top coat
Top coat is better in everyway then the base
Glossier, last longer, better hydrophobic/slick etc...so seems absolutely pointless evdn if it did add a 3d matrix depth look or whatever
