This followed me home tonight. I even got to pull the white plastic off of it and they thought I was nuts for not even wanting it washed. Salesman however as I was leaving said given their lot guy it was a wise decision.

Anyhow, couple of questions.

1: Anyone dealt with new Mazda paint to know how best to start on it? In a couple of tests seems pretty soft?

2: Is Raggtop still a go-to for convertible tops or is there something better? Never been a huge 303 fan.

CCrew !
Congratulations ! I Heart that car !!!
Good for you !

I have only used Ragg Topp on a few hundred convertible tops in the Pacific Northwest, some were not too dirty, some were really dirty and neglected, and All came out beautiful when done, using Ragg Top cleaner and spray protectant...

I remember one Mini Cooper I did for a Client that had the car moved to Fla., and on the way, the car above his Mini dripped oil all over his top.. He called me
in panic mode when he got the car from the trucker, and I told him, just wash it and see what happens..

The oil did not even soak in and washed off the top and all he had to do was wash the rest of the car to fully remove the oil from it and he was good...

I have seen 303 around for I don`t know, a couple decades? , Have never been a fan of it, never could tell if it was doing anything, so, I can`t tell you much about it..
I am sure it does good things - heck its still around, so a lot of people must buy and like it..

Your top may have a protectant on it from the factory, since its brand brand new.... So, you are probably good for awhile...

Enjoy that beautiful ride !

Congratulations!

Mazdas that I`ve worked have been on the softish side. Also, they`ve got painting to an art. 70-90um so don`t go crazy.

Haven`t needed anything on my Audi yet but will likely use either Raggtop or Capro Fabric Coating. I did try Duragloss Fabric on my Beetle and won`t be using on the Audi.

Thanks guys. Cleaned it all up and wife and I have been out enjoying it. I`m going to do a writeup about what it took to get from pulling plastic off to this, but I threw a lot of products at it and the finished product came out beautiful. Paint is indeed soft, and micromarring is incredibly easy. But agreed, mjlinane they indeed have that paint application to an art form, but the factory paint cleans up beautifully and the most I threw at it was PF2500 Menzerna. Here was start with the plastic off and then today out for a 105 mile Skyline Drive cruise.

Here`s how it ultimately cleaned up. They say the styling was what won it 2016 World Car of the Year this week. Driving it is a joy.
