When I received my BOSS G10 a week or so ago, it came with a BOSS Backing Plate. It certainly didn`t look like the 2 went together and, when I tried, the mounting bolt was too short to properly engage the threads. So a quick trip to Home Depot and a 5/16-24x1" bolt + split washer later, the problem was solved.

Then, a couple of days ago, I saw this post on AGO: Just received my BOSS G10 (wrong BP?) - Auto Geek Online Auto Detailing Forum (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/griot-s-garage-polishers-boss-6-da-3-da/99492-just-received-my-boss-g10-wrong-bp.html). Had me worried a bit. PM`ed Bill and Ray. While waiting for a reply, I looked at the backing plate some more and realized the center feature for mounting on a G21 or G15 is a separate piece. Pliers and a sharp yank and out it came. (It is just lightly press-fit into place and the process is completely reversible.) This makes the plate is suitable for most DA Polishers or, with the insert, the G21 & G15. Very clever.

And it`s a really nice backing plate, too.

So, if you go this route, don`t panic... all is well.

Just don`t forget to add a compression washer to the backing plate if you use it on the G10.

Good point, Ray. Good thing I have a bag of them. And a bin of backing plates. ;)

Thought a pic might help.
