So we got this brand new 2015 Mustang GT in the shop, and not only is it a GT it’s the 50th Anniversary edition. We’ve done some pretty cool coatings on mustangs before, and we’ve even done Modesta on a car very similar to this. Being not just your average mustang the owner wanted to give it the above and beyond treatment. This car is getting Modesta BC-04 on the body, and Modesta BC-09 on the wheels both the faces and the barrels to keep all that hot and corrosive brake dust off those brand new gloss black wheels.
The care of this car started like every car here at Chicago Auto Pros, it was pulled into our wash bay and liberated of all grime from its 200 glorious miles of driving using our pH balanced soaps. Using the two bucket method the car was rid of any dirt or debris and was ready to be clay barred to completely remove every contaminate from the surface. Once we finished claying every surface the car received a thorough rinse and was ready to be dried using compressed air and a spray wax lubricated soft drying towel to make sure we never instill any new scratches or swirls into any paint.

Once dry this mustang was ready to be inspected and we were eager to get this thing shining like it should be! These are just some of the defects we found before correction started, black cars are always the most challenging but also the most rewarding when that perfect finish is showing.

Since the wheels on this car are being completely coated we removed them while the car was being polished. The wheels were then washed again, clay barred, rinsed, and then dried using compressed air. Since these wheels were painted there were scratches in them as well that we polished out before they were prepared to be coated. We coated the wheels using Modesta BC-09 and then baked them under our heat lamps to cure before replacing them back on the car.

At this stage the car was coming along nicely, we finished polishing and went over the car panel by panel to make sure no imperfection was left behind. Once we were completely satisfied that this car was looking better than new we removed all oils and any residue left behind from correcting the paint and started coating every painted surface with Modesta BC-04. Once finished with the coating we cured every panel on the car using our heat lamps and you could feel the excitement around the shop waiting anxiously to see this outside in the sun.

Once cured the car went through a final inspection, and another inspection outside in the sunlight. Here are some pictures of the finished result.
