Review: Polish Angel Master Sealant (http://www.autopia.org/forums/detailing-product-reviews/182367-review-polish-angel-master-sealant.html#post2008561)

First of all, every single Polish Angel product I`ve used so far has blown me away (see previous Polish Angel product reviews here (http://www.autopia.org/forums/detailing-product-reviews/181230-multiple-polish-angel-product-reviews.html)). We all hear terms or adjectives like "high quality" or "luxurious" all the time in the detailing world, but Polish Angel products really deserve those titles. All of their products are hand made in Germany and are produced in small batches to maintain the highest quality possible, which is one of many reasons why I was looking forward to breaking the protective seal on a sealant I had yet to try....Polish Angel Master Sealant (http://www.autopia-carcare.com/polish-angel-master-sealant.html).

http://ep.yimg.com/ay/autopia/polish-angel-master-sealant-200-ml-10.png

With a retail price of $38.99 for a 200 ml (6.7 oz) bottle, it`s not the cheapest sealant on the market; but if this hand made in Germany product performs anywhere near some of the other Polish Angel products...I would completely understand the premium charge.

The test bed for this product would be a beautiful German sedan scheduled for a full detail, a 2004 Mercedes S500.

The exterior was washed with 3D Pink Car Soap, decontaminated with 3D BDX and a Nanoskin Medium Grade Wash Mitt.

After drying the car, I drove it inside to allow the paint to cool down before starting my test spot. After a few test spots with different pad/polish combinations, I settled with HD Cut on a Flex 3401 with an orange 5 inch hybrid pad followed with HD Polish on a white hybrid pad. There weren`t a lot of defects or swirl marks, but this paint was HARD.

After polishing away any defects left on the paint, it was finally time to try out Master Sealant.

I applied it by hand with a Buff and Shine Red Foam Wax & Sealant Applicator Pad (http://www.autopia-carcare.com/buff-and-shine-tapered-wax-applicator.html). If you enjoy applying waxes or sealant by hand like I do, this applicator is a must have. It`s soft and large enough to hold easily in your hand without any fatigue, and makes applying thin coats of waxes super easy.

About halfway around the car I realized how much surface area this car has, it was taking me a lot longer to apply this to the entire car than I expected. I was actually worried that I let this sealant sit on the paint for too long and that it would turn into something that would resemble dried on concrete. :scared: Usually durable sealants that are allowed to dry for too long or that are applied too thick can turn into a full blown shoulder day exercise to remove off of the paint, but my worries melted away once I started wiping the Master Sealant off the paint with a Supreme 530 microfiber towel...

The paint felt slick and thick. It`s hard to describe, but the protection it left behind felt much more substantial than some of the other sealants I regularly use. This was clearly not one of those "all show no go" sealants designed purely for gloss or slickness. Polish Angel has a reputation for making super durable products that are designed to endure harsh winters, and I could see that once I started to feel the paint. It felt and looked like I had applied 2 coats of a fully cured sealant followed with a couple coats of a quality wax after only a single coat of Master Sealant. :bigups

I came back the following day to finish the car with a steam cleaning of the interior and engine bay and found myself applying a second coat of Master Sealant :) I was just so impressed with the wet gloss Master Sealant left behind that I couldn`t help myself. Luckily the owner of the car didn`t mind I opted to earn a little extra credit.

Thanks for reading!

Nice

You or it, brought life back to the paint.
It was kinda dull and lifeless before the polish/seal....

Amazing review and write-up Ray!!! That S-Class looks like it rolled out from the factory. The paint is looking good.

You`re right - that`s one big a$$ car with lots of real estate LOL!

Quick question - what do you mean by this statement: "but the protection it left behind felt much more substantial than some of the other sealants I regularly use". Are you talking about the sealant`s durability?

Yep, I was back at the dealership last night and someone really wanted this car. It was cool to see someone drooling over a car I just polish/sealed.

Very Nice Vega!

Thanks Angus

I agree Merlin. Life`s too short to have dull paint.

wow that looks really nice.

Thanks, I almost wanted to buy the car myself lol.

Very nice Vega !!!

Thanks Pat :)

Nice job !

Thanks Bunky, another car another dollar :)

Excellent work Ray. What is the expected durability?

Polish Angel says 12 months.

Thanks Marc. It`s hard to explain but this is a sealant that claims 12 months of protection (I normally use sealants that claim 6 months of protection) and the way my Supreme 530 slid across the paint just felt like there was more protection. I`ve applied sealants before and they looked and felt "thin", almost like it was a fragile carnauba wax that could be stripped off the paint easily with a strong shampoo. This was not the case with Master Sealant. It`s hard to put in words but I`ve used my Supreme 530`s to buff off a lot of sealants and Master Sealant felt great on the paint and left it looking great.

Hi

Nice review! :)

I have used PA MS a several times and I can agree that it`s very good product. Gives super glossy and wet finish (especially when Invincible or Escalate Lotion was used for finishing / jeweling).
I always apply two coats. First using DA and soft pad, and second after 2-3 hours by hand.
Unfortunately I am not able to confirm claimed durability. On normal cars (DD, not garaged) it last less than half a year and needs more attention than other sealants or nano sealants/coatings - gets dirty faster, attract dust, etc.. It behaves more like a good wax than a coating (this also applies to Cosmic coating) :)

Here a few cars with PA MS :)

Ray, how many applications would you guess the bottle can do?
How much did you use for those two coats?
