Friday my wife and I picked up a used expedition from a dealer. He pointed out a long light scratch (should have no problem getting it out) and said he had their "lot attendant" (yowsa) clean it up that morning and the attendant apparently asked if the salesman wanted him to try to get it out again (i guess he had previously tried). The dealer flat out told us the guy wasn`t the best, so he thankfully told him to leave it. I was packing the truck up to head out of town saturday morning when I noticed exactly how much work I`ve got to do:

That`s pretty much how the entire outside of the Expedition looks in the sunlight. On top of that the inside was filthy and the tires were randomly greased (parts were shiny and parts you could tell hadn`t been touched). It just blows my mind the hack job they allow. Ahh well. It`ll get polished and coated with gloss coat, so it should be beautiful when I`m done

It`s amazing people at those dealerships get paid to make cars look like that

Seriously. I was actually laughing at how pathetic the inside looked on our test drive

Pretty sad to buy a "new" to you car and have to spend 15 hours to make it look good

I guess there`s a couple of ways to look at this... 1) it can`t be much of a dealer to allow such incompetence on the lot; or 2) You can get a heck of a deal if/when a vehicle is sold `as is` in rough shape. With the right tools, products and elbow grease, you can have her looking new again.

It`s just a small town dealer in Wisconsin. The vehicle is mechanically sound, loaded with every option you can think of, and the price was right. After I`m done with it, she`ll look better than new

It looks like the one picture is of the plastic chrome grill. Is there any way to remove those scratches?

That`s exactly what that piece is. I`m going to try some HD Speed with a light polishing pad at first to see if it helps at all. Those things don`t always polish up that well

And I look forward to doing it. Driving me nuts already. Unfortunately our family schedule is slammed for the next couple weeks, so I may have to work on it a bit at a time
