For anyone contemplating the use of Collinite products I flipped a few pictures of almost two month old 885. There is talk about 845, 476 and 915 but not much if any on 885. I do not know what $100.00 plus wax looks like and probably never will but this $20.00 wax along with 476 and the lesser endurance 845 sure look good to me. 108 here today and the Carnuba has not melted off yet.

davidc- Glad you`re liking the Collinite and that it`s holding up OK. Not really surprised by either ;)

Hi neighbor….. I`m down here in tucson so i know the heat you speak of.

I happen to live off of dirt roads so dust and dirt are ALWAYS an issue here for our vehicles.

Would you say that 885 attracts dust?

I know when I used to use 845, it made my car to be like a swiffer duster (dust magnet).

I`d wash it and no matter what, by the next day, there would be a layer of fine dust blanketing the paint …..which in turn, led to more frequent washes.

Since I have Coated our cars w/ OGC, dust is no longer an issue anymore as it literally slides off and no longer "sticks" to the paint.

I do not think dust sticks to it as much as it settles on it, pretty much like any dust does in AZ. My truck gets dusty sitting in the garage. If you have found something you like and dust literally falls off without any extra help stick with it. I have used Zaino, Duragloss, Meguiars, Liquid Glass, Klasse and now Collinite and they all get dusty at some point. Collinite did collect some dust after the application but that seems to have died down after a few washes. I really do not know if you would see a dust difference between 845 and 476S or 885. My guess would be no difference.

Well I am not liking what I think is going on. The Wife`s van is outside 24/7 so what a better test. What I did was use 476S on one headlight and 885 on the other. On the rear hatch entrance black plastic 476S on half and the other half 885. On my daily after work walk around the Van it appears the 885 head light is starting to yellow and the 885 step trim on the back looks like it is starting to gray. All of the 476S appears to still be ok. This is after one month and everything was prepped the exact same way. The real bad news is my truck is completely done in 885 but it is garaged, the 32` RV has 885 the full length on the Passenger side and back side, the Drivers side has 925. Luckily the RV is under a cover. This is not looking good for 885 tho. I am going to let it go a little longer until it shows a significant difference between the two. The 476S has been on the Van body for about two months with no apparent failure on it`s part.

davidc- Aw gee, sorry to hear that. I *am* the guy who always says to use 476S for durability so I guess I shouldn`t be astounded, but I woulda rather been wrong than have you faced with reLSPing.

This is odd, as I actually called and spoke with Collinite today, and the person on the phone assured me 885 and 476 are exactly the same. I know this is counter to what they told you David. I wonder what the real story is. I have both, and the smell is identical, and they spread identically, and look the same. I always think it is funny that both Collinite and Duragloss seem to give different answers depending on who answers the phone.

Eh, I`m getting my Collinite numbers mixed up...yeah, I too thought that (well, once my memory got refreshed :o ) they were the same only in different sizes.

Collinite kind of him hawed around but the hint was some EPA changes in 885 so the fishies don`t turn into "JAWS" when they are swimming around the boat. To me 476S smells a little more potent than 885. If they decreased something or substituted for the EPA that may be an explanation. If anything I would have thought 885 would have more UV blocking with the rays bouncing off the water. What ever the case I am going to see if it gets worse or I get tired of looking at it then strip it off. I will leave the 476S alone on the head light and rear panel and re do the affected 885 with fk 1000 and see how that works out. Now the 885 going south is on plastic, I hope it works better on paint and gel coat.

That`s easy at my age anymore, 920,925,840,885,845,476,105,501,111,101 it`s all getting confusing to senior citizens.;)

davidc- Yeah, heh heh, just realized that I qualify for the Sr. coffee discount at Denny`s.

I`ll be *very* interested to hear what you think of the FK1000P, which continues to amaze me.

When I first started the Collinite thing I was a little puzzled. 885 and 476S are the exact same. 885=12oz and 476S=9oz and both were the same price. So anyone in their right mind would get the 885 as you get 3oz more wax right ?. There has to be a difference Collinite is not telling us.

Leaving the "in their right mind" part aside ;) ....I bought the smaller tins because they last me *years* anyhow and I didn`t like the idea of a tin of wax being opened for a decade or longer for fear of the carrier solvents drying out. No, it`s never been a problem for me but that is how I thought of it.
