When we took delivery of the Jeep I called after I got home to complain that the brakes were pulsing like the rotors were warped. Car had approx. 20 miles on the clock when it was delivered.

I was told, it was surface rust from sitting in the yard. Well 3 weeks later, same deal and I have an appointment to get the rotors REPLACED tomorrow. I will be dropping off the car tonight and I hate sending a dirty car into service as the staff may feel like "if the owner does not care, why should we?" I hate breaking in a new dealer.

I have my DO NOT WASH SIGN IN THE GLOVE BOX READY FOR MOUNTING ON THE STEERING WHEEL.

So I gave it a quick clean up ( 1st one since we got it) last night when I got home from work.

Still cold here when the sun goes down so I broke out the winter wash gloves:

If you live where its cold these are a must. They are gloves made for the commercial window washing industry and very much like scuba gloves.

Next onto the cleaning:

Car was foamed with PB super Slick and Suds and washed using 2BM poorboys SSS and a MF wash Mitt. Wheels were cleaned with Sonax FE wheel cleaner. Tires and wheel wells cleaned with Total Auto wash. After the initial wash grease spots left on the paint and minor tar spots were cleaned with TAW. Grease pencil was removed from the tires with Tarminator.

Quick clean up but it will make my job easier when I do the full detail. The good news is the paint looks to be in better than expected condition.

Did not dress tires as they will be removing wheels to do the rotors and I don`t want a mess on he wheels, plus I was not overly satisfied with the cleanliness of the tires. I still see some brown when they dried and I scrubbed my butt off with the TAW and a stiff brush. Guess I will try some terminator and a dry MF towels as I have seen others do.

SO far we are really liking the Jeep. My wife and son have the most seat time, but when I drive it its just a fun ride. Nice to be able to drive over some minor imperfections in the road without feeling like your jarring your fillings loose-LOL

Good luck with the dealer, I always follow the same protocol when I go for any kind of service, I want the car to be clean (I also do that for inspection, not that there`s any subjectivity anymore here in NJ).

Any detail on the gloves (brand, model)?

Gloves are made by a company called Unger. Its a commercial window washing supply manufacturer.

Available on line or possibly from your local janitorial supply house.

I take a video as I am being written up at the drive in. I email it to the service advisor. I am sure to tell him that I will take just as good a care of his loaner as he does my vehicle.

Did you bed the breaks? If not they will feel like warped rotors...

Bedding process:
Do multiple hard stops from 80-90mph to 10-15mph (don`t come to a full stop) keeping the breaks hot (break, speed up, break, speed up...).

Once you`ve done this 3-5 times the pads should have transferred a fine layer of brake pad material onto the surface of the rotor (looks like blue steel). This will add bite and ensures the pad makes good contact with the rotors all the way around (no more wobble).

I learned this when I got my Jeep SRT8 breaks changed (pads and rotors) and they said new car owners with less than a few 100 miles should do the same as it`s not done in the factories.

The difference between properly bedded breaks to not bedding is very significant.

Never hear of this on new vehicles and I have had quite a few. No harm in trying before I drop the car off.

JSFM35X- If all ense fails for the tires, Griot`s Rubber Prep is a virtual miracle-product

Took the words right out of my mouth! Yeah, that doesn`t get enough attention, most folks know nothing about it, even people who oughta. I had to educate two dealership service depts about it (my Audi dealer already knew).

I bet that 95% of the "warped rotors" that get turned/replaced are really suffering from pad deposits.

JSFM35X- I don`t think it`ll do any good now, once the deposits get on there they tend to *stay*. But I`d sure do it after they do the replacing. Or...school `em and let them do it. My Ford dealer actually listened to /appreciated the info.
