When I was told a Tire Coating was being added to the Detailer`s Pro Series line of products, I apparently turned into a, and I quote - "a giddy school girl". My paint is coated, my glass is coated, my wheels are coated, and even my leather interior is coated. I`ve turned into a big fan of applying coatings that make maintaining my freshly detailed ride easier. DP`s new tire coating promises to last "several months". This will be a long term durability review, with day zero on 10/3/2014. (For anyone keeping track, this was before the product was officially launched. Just one of the perks of the job :D)
Since this is the first time I would be trying this product, I decided to test it out first on my own personal daily driver. I washed my car the day before this picture was taken at home and because I knew I had the DP Tire Coating Kit sitting on my desk, I skipped applying any dressing to the tires.

My tires were fairly clean already.

But before applying any tire dressing or coating, I know how important it is to make sure the rubber is squeaky clean. So I thoroughly cleaned the rubber with DP Tire Cleaner & Restorer.

Then I was ready to apply the DP Tire Coating. I opted to use the Carrand Tire Brush.

To my amazement, the tire coating turns BLUE while it interacts with the rubber!

I was instructed to apply the Tire Coating thick.

The blue color is nice since it makes it very easy to see where you`ve applied it to.

Now we wait...
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-R0cqxBc78jM/VDlNS8_E_9I/AAAAAAAAQP8/sxGYK4rbpfk/s640/IMG_0944.JPG
After a few minutes the blue tint started to disappear.

Since I was quickly losing sunlight, I decided to apply the DP Tire Coating to only a single tire. This way I can test durability versus other tire dressings. So I ended up only applying DP Tire Coating to my drivers side rear tire. You can see the gloss difference between the front and rear tire in this pic:

After a few more minutes, all of the blue tint had disappeared.

A few minutes later I drove to the supermarket and checked for any slinging :inspector:. Test passed.

Here you can compare the gloss or lack of gloss from the front tire, to the coated rear tire.

So far so good! My initial impression with this kit is that it`s easy to use and looks great. This isn`t the shiniest tire dressing product I`ve used, but the tire clearly look dressed and I don`t like the super shiny stuff anyways. If this coating gives me more than a few months on my tires, maybe I`ll turn back into "a giddy school girl".
Thanks for reading and check back for updates.
3 Weeks 5 Days Update
I have this picture on my phone from 10/29/2014 which would show this as a 3 week 5 day update. I was walking back to my car from the supermarket (it sounds like I go to the supermarket a lot and I do. A grown man`s got to eat.) and I thought I should snap an update pic.
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-uedL-jxuYcE/VGeaijqmF2I/AAAAAAAAReU/gF-S4S1BOzY/s640/2014-10-29%252020.37.36.jpg
So far it`s been 6 weeks and 1 day and my drivers side rear tire still looks as good as the first day I applied the tire coating. It`s outlasted every other tire dressing I`ve applied to the other tires and I`m looking forward to my first day off in a couple weeks tomorrow to apply the tire coating to the rest of my tires.
I`ll post another update in a few weeks.
