Are there any sealants available today that provide 1-yr+ protection?

`

Top 2 or 3 would be great!

DG105 will ...provided you prep the paint properly and you mix DG 601 with it. It looks great as well. I`m sure others will chime in. Top it with collinite and who knows how long it will go.

1 year parked outside 24/7 is going to need a coating. Longer lasting stuff like Collinite and MUW can do 4-6.

Under the right conditions (car is garaged, conditions not too harsh), the FK 1000p will do a year.

What tom p. said, with an emphasis on "under the right conditions...".` Lasts a lot longer than Collinite does for me (note that`I`m still using 476S on one vehicle).

`

KSG X 6 lasts a very, very long time too and probably provides better marring-restance than the FK.

What Accumulator said about Klaase SG x 6.`` I have not used FK so that part I can not offer any opinion on that product.

Big diffs between the KSG X 6 and FK1000P:

`

-you don`t need as many coats of the FK, even *one* will do some pretty impressive protecting

-the KSG X 6 does provide that "thick plastic film" effect that can provide sometimes-amazing marring protection

-the FK releases contamination better/longer

-they look (and feel) different

If you`re looking for that kind of longevity I`d skip the sealants and go for a coating

Thanks for all the responses. I was hoping/looking for some sealant, reasonably priced, easy to apply, giving me a years durability.

`

The question wasn`t from me but for some of my clients. If you need 6-12 months go with sealants. If you want 1-2-3 yrs go with coatings.

`

Cost/time wise I can`t do more than 2 coats of any lsp. Coatings cost more than sealants. High end waxes cost the most. Low end waxes are inexpensive but offer least durability. I prep meticulously for everyone. Then apply an lsp of their choice and price accordingly.

jmsc- For something that`s OK with one coat, I`d go with the FK1000P.` IME that`s better than one coat of anything like Collinite or any (other) sealant I`ve tried, including KSG X 2.

I`ve gotten 2 years out of HD NITRO SEAL on black outside 24/7. Not sure if it`s repeatable but easily 1 year on any car.

Lately my sealant of choice has been Menzerna Power Lock, it replaced BFWD - and is cheaper, lasts longer and still feels as slick.

I don`t think there is a sealant on the market that can claim 1 year durability for all markets and environmental conditions. If customers are looking for a year or more, upsell to a coating. Something like Opti-Coat 2.0 is relatively inexpensive, figure on $30 additional cost per vehicle for a half tube of 2.0 and charge an extra $125-150.`

Get the new Duragloss coating with the Squeeky clean.` if you join the Detailers Club at Autoality.com, the price on the DG coating is cheaper than many high end sealants.` They claim up to 2 years with the DG coating.

I started to get the DG stuff, then I got a few reports from guys that tried it and did not see the results promised. I really hate that cause I like DG car wash and AW, plus it`s made in my home state.
