Applying coatings with polyester cloth?

I found a cloth that was in my towels and it`s soft and seem like it would work well for applying a coating, does it matter if it`s polyester though?

If in doubt, I`d try a test run.` Grab a nice CD/DVD and apply your lsp to it.` That should tell you if your mystery cloth passes muster.
