Input Needed: Proto-Type Mini-Turkish Lambwool Wheel Wash Mitts

`

I thought I would pose this proto-type product to everyone to get their thoughts. It`s basically a hand mitt that is designed for cleaning/washing wheels, wheel wells & tires. It really fits like a glove and easily slides over the front of your hand (4 fingers) and gives the user great leverage when meticulously cleaning wheels. Made from Turkish lambswool and is the same material exclusively used in the new HD lambswool buffing pads. It allows great access and stability for cleaning tight areas of a wheel` including the face, spokes , barrel and especially behind wheel spokes. It prevents the user from banging their hands up on sharp edges and also stays firmly positioned to users hand with the stretchable elastic band.

HD is considering this product and is also working on a dedicated larger hand wash mitt to be used for the rest of car. (made with similar materials).

`

Give me your thoughts (both positive & negative) for consideration. Would you buy a product/tool like this? If not, why?`

I think you have a prospective winner there.` Apart from the benefits you`ve already mentioned, I`ll add the color.` The black will mask the grunge and discoloration it`ll gather over time and still look good in my wheel bucket stuff.``` It`ll clean most of my really deep dish wheels and give me huge control of all surfaces and most of the awkward bits and places.` My wheel woolies will take care of the narrow bits and far places so your mitt plus my woolies will give me a 1, 2 knockout punch on cleaning my wheels quickly.` Time is money right?

`

The sooner you can bring them to market, the sooner I`ll order a couple.

I think it`s a great idea and it looks good. My concern would be the durability of the elastic band over time, because it`s really the only thing allowing the user to put pressure into the mitt to scrub back and forth without the mitt sliding off.

Good point Kaval. I tried another manufacturer`s product that didn`t have the band and it actually did a pretty good job of staying on your hand when wet. I think as it gets wet, the additional weight helps you with manuvering.`

Thanks for the input John!! I have been using Daytona brushes for the barrels and MF for everything else. This product has eliminated me from reaching for my MF and does a really great job of getting into little areas.`

Put me down for a wheel mitt and a wash mitt. Can`t wait.

Looks a lot nicer than the small MF mitt I`ve been using. Color is perfect for wheels.

You are right rzatch. Black is totally appropriate for cleaning wheels.

I`ve been using the big and little Daytona wheel brushes - with pretty good results. I have an old bug sponge to get in the hard to get places. This wooley thing looks great for mildly dirty wheels, I wonder how it would be on the pigs I get? I could see one that fit like a mitten and went up your wrist an inch or so as being the next step. The concerns I have would be how durable it is, how well it rinses out and how much would it cost.

The interior of that mitt looks like fabric? My concern is with the color .. any trapped dirt or larger particulate will be hard to see and lend to scratches. Other wise its a go.

I`d buy one.

Is that the same material the HD wool pads are made from? If so it could be great for wheels, but I prefer something with a bit more scrubbing power for tires.

I find this interesting especially since I just ordered the LC version like the one Griots sells.

I have and use the Large & Small Daytona brushes as well as the full set of Wheel Woolies. Even with all these brushes I still find my self grabbing a MF rag to get in the corners and behind the spokes. So I broke down and am getting the LC version. So if you are looking for a true newbie user review of a tool I`m your guy.

That looks great David, but my fingers are too fat to get between the brake disc/shield and the barrel on a handful of vehicles. `If that slid over the head of a spatula I bet I could put it to better use ;)

`

I do like that it looks thin enough that it wouldn`t slide or rotate on my hand like other mitts.
