Sold the SS and bought a more family oriented vehicle that doesn`t get 13mpg on premium.:think2

Anyways, had it a week and come home to find this. I have no idea where it happened and I`m equally stumped as to how to remove it. I`m thinking the paint will be easiest, maybe a little goof off, wipe down and new coat of wax, but the plastic rocker and the wheel wells I have no idea.

Any ideas?

I`m in Insurance Adjuster and this is 100% without a doubt an insurance claim. Road paint is pretty heavy stuff and designed to stick to what it get applied to. You`ll need to replace the fender liners, any textured trim (bumpers) and probably the tires. You can remove the paint in most cases with a product like this: Road Paint Remover | Car Brite (http://www.carbrite.com/products/Exterior-Care/Cleaners/Specialty-Exterior-Cleaners/Road-Paint-Remover/Road-Paint-Remover/)

If you get to it quickly enough (and depending on what kind of paint it is), I`ve had good results with Optimum Power Clean diluted 3:1, a nylon bristle brush and a pressure washer. With how heavily coated that is, odds are it isn`t road paint but a contractor or painter like usual didn`t secure their load and house paint fell off their vehicle into the road. If that`s the case, its a lot easier to remove than actual road paint. Might want to head down to the coin-op and try to blast it out. And if you regularly dress the fenderwells, it comes out easier.

Made this video about how to do it:

If it is in fact road paint, take Dave`s advice and contact your insurance company.

If you`re otherwise looking at writing off/replacing the fender panels, try out 3m Adhesive remover or another solvent along with a pressure washer. I`ve removed yellow divider line paint with it.

You will probably have a faded inner fender when you`re done but you will have it clean and ready for another solution to make it dark again.

That`s what a road line painter told us too.

Will the Dub-D stain the plastic rockers at all? I`m leaning towards giving the WD and the Optimum a shot, then talking to the insurance company.

Thanks for the replies. I`ll definitely update my findings when I get that far.

The wife got into paint off a contractors` truck - had to be latex house paint, anyway, Goo Gone and a plastic razor blade worked for me. Let the GG dwell some and wear eye protection, sometimes those flakes pop back in your face.

No, you should be fine. Just make sure to apply WD-40 to clean, dry & cool paint.

The plastic will be ok too even if I let it soak for a half hour or so?

What are you waiting for? You need to get on this immediately, go to a coin op car wash and blast the fender liners out with the pressure washer. The longer you wait the harder it will be to remove.

When I drove over some paint in the road, I was at the coin op car wash 2 hours later, pressure washing got it all off the car. Not even sure if it mattered that I pre-sprayed with OPC.
