Just installed these Bridgestone Potenza RE-11A on my 1990 CRX Si, August 26 2013.

My 7 year old Bridgestone RE01R were worn down to the belts so it was time to change the tires. These tires are Made in Japan, treadwear rating of 200.

These tires were manufactured 14th week in 2013.

I also got the CRX corner weighed, and did an alignment.

Some pics an a video:

Awesome cars, my brother had a black `89 CRX Si. Yours looks a lot better than his ever did! BTW, did an interior of a truck, was also supposed to do the interior of their original owner `87 Si but the night before, their daughter backed it into a tree and did quite a bit of damage. All he had us do with it was vacuum out the broken glass from the bottom part of the hatch.

Rob.- Thanks for the update and another look at it! Nice, (truly) new tires; I see you know how to decode the sidewall dating :idea

Ya know...I keep trying to find *something* that I could (good naturedly, of course!) tweak you about..."hey, better do something about..[something].." but I simply can`t find anything! :grinno: Hey, OK.."!gotcha!" ;) The inner surface of the one mudflap could be a little better  There, now I feel better :chuckle:

How many miles are on it now? I`m simply besotted with that car!

Hi Im trying not to drive the car. Theres a manufacture defect on 1 rear tire ( i hear metal inside and tire sounds flat when rolling slowly)

Another issue is that the yellow dots were not lined up with the valve stem hole on rim.

The rim may have some missing metal due to the valve stem hole, but when the valve stem is installed it more than compensates for the weight loss.

The YELLOW dot indicates the lightest part of the tire, also known as "maximum force variation." This should be lined up with the heaviest part of the wheel - typically, but not always, the valve stem. They call this "phase aligning" the tire.

This is crucial for proper balancing.

Rob.- Hey, I (somehow) never knew that about the yellow dot! Learn something every day here...thanks for schooling me. Now I`ll be even more of a PIA next time I have my tires mounted/balanced ;)

You gonna replace that "defective" tire?

I trust you`re just going to leave the non-phase-balanced tire the way it is, as I assume it balanced OK anyhow.

Yes, Tuesday first thing Im going to the tire shop and ordering a new tires.

Im also gonna have them reinstall the tires ligning up the valve stem to the yellow dot.

I am getting a little steering shake at higher speeds.

Arent tire shops suppose to know what that yellow dot is there for Jeez !!

Rob.- I wonder if the steering shake is really from the dot not being lined up, or whether that`s a coincidence

I gather the shop is OK with regard to not marring up the rims, lucky you on that score.

I have noticed dots on tires before, I never knew why until now! Thanks. Does the color of the dot matter? I think I remember blue dots? Very clean Honda, you don`t see them much anymore.

I`ve always thought the dots were meant to draw the attention of the tech`s who do the PDI at the dealership. Just a reminder to set the pressure before the car goes out the door. Never knew about the balancing thing! I think I`ve seen green and white dots.

Depends on the tire manufacture. If theres a red and yellow dot, red rules.
