“Get it looking best as possible in two days”

To be blunt, this car needed a TON of help! Heavy swirling and faded paint, lots of scratches and a lot of RIDS took up a lot of time to correct and get looking better! This car will be driven often, and washed regularly, so I went for 90%+, leaving the DEEP scratches instead of over-thinning the clear leaving less room for future polishing efforts. Lots of spots took 3-4 rounds of compounding to make a solid difference.

At the end of the day, or two days at that (about 23 total hours), I was able to get the car in the 90% range and apply Cquartz Finest to the paint for more durable and stronger protection, while leaving it very glossy and wet looking! In person, the owner was very pleased with the end results as the car was “very tired looking” when he dropped it off.

Here are the before pictures of what I was dealing with:

Something going on here with the gas tank area…no its not gas and fogginess, it was eventually removed with the polishing efforts

You can see here just how bad the scratches were above the rear emblem. I talked with the owner and we decided to remove the rear emblem to clean between the letters and remove the damaged paint more effectively without having to work around the emblem.

Along the way, I decided to take off the rear grills to gain access to the areas between the grill and the paint. Without taking them off, it would have been a very time consuming effort to clean properly without scratching the paint. At the same time with them off, I was able to pressure wash them clean and apply a sprayable trim coating for a deeper/darker look.

Claying the car, this was from just the top half of the roof…

Areas that needed to be taped: window trim, clear film areas

Pulled the car outside after claying to see what the sun will reveal:

We decided to apply xpel ultimate clear film on the A-pillars as they were getting pitted from driving. The windshield already was replaced at 4500 miles, and the paint was starting to go. The entire front end had Xpel ultimate on it already about a month prior.

Total process was about 23 hours:

Wipe car down

Claybar treatment

Tape off trim and clear film areas not wanting to chew them up with the heavy compounding

Paint correction steps to remove vast majority of defects with 3 different combos

Clean paint with erasure

Apply coating – Cquartz Finest

Wipe down door jambs

Vacuum interior

Clean wipe interior to remove previous detailers greasiness.

Windows

Take pictures

It was a fun one!!!

is it me? these people who buy these cars that i think alot of us only wished we could afford don`t take care of them, yes i know they tookthe car to you have the abuse fixed, but in the meantime take care of the car. i wonder sometimes if they don`t clean the car with a scouring pad. btw great work you really turned it around.
