How long has it been marketed as such is the question you want to ask!

QEW has been around for a long time. Dri-Wash-N-Guard was around since the 80`s IIRC.

I used some (of pretty poor quality!) back in the early `80s. Well, I used it once or twice. Forget what the name was or who made it (Meguiar`s perhaps? :nixweiss ). It was more like a forerunner of today`s QDs.

Protect All Quick and Easy Wash has been around since the late 80s I believe. Unfortunately, so has the formula so its been bypassed by the new rinseless washes.

Optimum was the first of the modern chemistry rinseless washes, came out in 2005 or 2006? Been tweaked once (v2), reformulated completely (v3) and now has a version with wax. Don`t know a lot about the other ones, tried Meguiars and Duragloss versions, still prefer ONR. With water restrictions due to drought, run-off and other environmental concerns, I can only see the market demand for rinseless washes growing.
