I`ll admit I haven`t been paying attention for a few years now, because I`ve been getting good use out of my old pepboys $10 sheepskin mitts, but now they`re so deteriorated it`s time for new ones. Problem is I can`t find new ones now! Everything is $20+ and all the autoparts stores carry the rough looking microfiber ones. Apparently sheepskin is out of style. What`s everyone using now? Even these squares I was going to get from a big online supplier last summer have disappeared now.

So are my choices basically these overpriced $25-40 ones? most of the $10 range ones look like stiff junk really. Maybe I should just change my process? Idk.

The prices vary seasonally, at least on Amazon. If you can hold off, the Mothers mitts, which are great, drip down into the teens.

All the sheep formed a union and went on strike. :deadhorse:

As the above mentioned, you can find em for less sometimes, but you have to wait for sales.

Haha nice one Ben, yeah it would seem that way. Thanks for the price chart Dan I knew I wasn`t crazy. Apparently 2012 was the year of the sheep. They thought we would all be sheep and buy it anyway too.

That mother`s one looks like the ones I was using with the fluffy curves around the hand shape (mine had green wrist sewing) .

Did mother`s buy everyone else and put them all out of business or something? There should be tons of companies fighting to make these but there`s not even a handful.

How does that Merino one compare to it, the Merino looks like it would fall apart after a few months of use because it looks so soft.

I have a couple of these, not in the same league as the Mother`s wool. When wet that wool feels uber slick and soft. Lots of fluff to get in cracks, etc. The Megs ones are great for wheels and plastic wheel wells.

Dan, I just saw those. The way I wash is ONR in a quality pump sprayer drench car with ONR and wipe with MF towels. If it has mud on it I will spray with a regular hose. Works for me.

Love those damn grout sponges. I wonder if they changed the packaging again? Last time I picked up a couple they were only $1.35.

Agreed with John, I`ve been using the CarPro Merino on my Sky exclusively since I first tried it. If you want cheap get the cuffless chenille but that Merino is really the bees knees and you`ll spend twice that to find something of that quality.

I have used different mits over the years and have since been using a natural sea sponge exclusively. A friend of mine who details high end vehicles uses them and gave one to me to try - I have never gone back.

It is the softest material I have ever used, once it becomes wet, and it holds a tremendous amount of soap and water, really makes washing the car enjoyable. He mentioned that the natural characteristics of the sea sponge make it the best for washing cars - they release particulate picked up off the car into your rinse water better than any other product. I just found a good article on it if you are interested.

Oh, if you are thinking of getting a natural sea sponge, make sure it is a sea wool sponge, they are the softest.

The best product for washing your vehicle gets all of the dirt and grime off the paint with leaving zero marring behind. Whether thats a sea sponge or a mitt is individual preference. I personally would use more than one of whatever just for psychological factor of piece of mine. I see the sea sponge is so affordable you could even use a new one at every pass. Thats exagerrating, but I wouldnt put it past some Autopians. :o. One thing is for sure, proper washing can save time and labor later in polishing out marring.
