View Full Version : Kit wax on top of Klasse HGS? Mothers wheel and tire cleaner on pony package rims?

Hi all!

I recently purchased a 2013 Mustang, and immediately rounded up a myriad of cleaning/sealant products recommended here to keep it in top shape.

Armourall gold wash and wax

Mothers wheel and tire cleaner

Mothers clay bar kit

Miter reflections spray wax

Mothers reflections leather care

Klasse AIO

Kassel HGS

Kit carnauba wax

I have 2 questions:

1. I just washed, clayed, and laid down a coat of AIO. I`m planning on using 3 layers of Klasse HGS followed by a top coat of the kit wax. However, I just read on the kit wax tin that it contains "micro-polishing agents". Could this wax remove the HGS sealant?

2. I used the mothers wheel cleaner on my pony package rims, and for some reason, the wheels look a drop less shiny than they did before. Not incredibly noticeable, especially after the AIO, but a bit duller. Is this wheel cleaner safe for the pony package rims?

Thanks for your help!

1. If Kit is a cleaner wax, then yes, don`t use it on top of KSG.

2. Are your wheels clear coated or polished?

Matt, welcome aboard! There are certainly a broad selection of carnuaba products you could use on top of the KSG. Just find something that`s "pure", as Dan has suggested...

The kit wax I bought is Kit 602663 Carnauba Paste Wax - 12 oz. : Amazon.com : Automotive (http://www.amazon.com/Kit-602663-Carnauba-Paste-Wax/dp/B000BQM6H8)

It doesn`t say anything about being a cleaner wax, just the quick note about polishing agents.

I`m honestly not sure of the finish, this is what they look like (post #6): 2012 Pony package wheels - Ford Mustang Forums (http://www.allfordmustangs.com/forums/2011-mustang-talk/274591-2012-pony-package-wheels.html)

I would wait a month or two before topping the SG.....you might just find that you like it well enough to just add another layer every few months. The Klasse twins have always been one of the most durable combos out there and still look really good IMO....especially on white or silver.

Yeah, that`s the way I`d do it too :xyxthumbs

By merely adding a little more KSG now and then you can go a *LONG* time between "full details", and I don`t mean just four or five months. IF you can avoid wash-induced marring, you might not need to do anything other than (very gentle) claying and adding more KSG for...well, for ages. Even after a tough winter, I`d just clay lightly with Sonus SFX and refresh the KSG. IMO the whole point of using KSG is the ability to build up a good thick layer of product, and/but once you top it with wax you lose the ability to keep doing that.

I`ve often wondered if a strong Dawn bath would knock the wax off and leave KSG there. Might be time for another experiment!!!

Heh heh...I don`t think I`d want to put too much trust in that, but by all means experiment away :D
