Brand new..................... with damage, it is never suprising what dealerships are capable of but it keeps guys like me busy.

Vehicle right before a good bath/decon (It would need it actually as there was a good amout of particulate on the whole vehicle especially the rear and top).

Used the surface prep towel on the glass, conventional clay on the painted surfaces.

I would discover short deep scratches on different parts of the vehicle, the holograms here tell me that the scratches were probably pretty bad that the dealership guys had to remove them.................... but leave holograms behind(50% correction of course).

This pic does not quite show just how deep the abrasion was here, it would take almost 20 minutes on this alone after light sanding(Buffdaddy provided spot sanding star discs.............thanks Mr KBM).

More deep scratches on the hood.

Marring & bird dropping etch.

http://i409.photobucket.com/albums/pp172/autoconcierge/997%20Porsche%20RandD%20Project/2008%20Lambo%20Murcie%20Roadster%20March%202011/02-22-13%20BMW%20X5%20JW/old030_zpsc43ec688.jpg

Fortunate to have good paint depth readings in this area as the bird bomb etched in heavy, all better now.

http://i409.photobucket.com/albums/pp172/autoconcierge/997%20Porsche%20RandD%20Project/2008%20Lambo%20Murcie%20Roadster%20March%202011/02-22-13%20BMW%20X5%20JW/old033_zps05854bf1.jpg

Another issue was hard water etch, my favorite..................... in all the jambs(Shuts for those across the pond in the UK).

http://i409.photobucket.com/albums/pp172/autoconcierge/997%20Porsche%20RandD%20Project/2008%20Lambo%20Murcie%20Roadster%20March%202011/02-22-13%20BMW%20X5%20JW/old043_zps3a687b18.jpg

One area that had the most hard water damage was the underside of the rear bumper, here fixing this problem.

Here in (K)alifornia, sometimes the front plate holder will be installed and I wanted to see if there would be issues in the paint underneath.............I would not be dissapointed.

Cleaning and polishing the "Not so seen spots" very nice. Nice as always. Solo project? So used to Dan these days.

Its a shame a brand new vehicle needed that much work. Looks like it should now!

Just out of curiosity, why didn`t you use the prep towel on the paint as well?

I agree with Scott... what some of these dealers do to new cars prior to delivery is a travesty.

Nice job Boob. I have a set of those halogens. Do you despite the rickety build quality as much as I do?
