View Full Version : Better bang for the buck than Dupray Hill Injection?

As I set up a detailing shop, I`m looking for a complete set of tools to tackle nearly anything, while minimizing unnecessary overhead.

From what I`ve read all over the web, getting a steamer with sub-standard specification, specifically PSI and temperature, can be a waste of time and money.

Not including the big $5000 steamers, the ones I`ve seen mention of detailers using are:

Dupray

Tosca - $996

- 72psi

- 316 F

- 4 Liters

- 26lbs

Hill Super Inox - $1799

- 89psi

- 327 F

- 2L

- 24lbs

Hill Injection - $2299

- 121psi

- 345 F

- 3L

- 28lb

Daimer

1500C - $2896

- 89psi

- 320 F

- 4 Liters

- 49lbs

Kleenjet Pro Plus 200S - $887

- 75psi

- 310 F

- 4 Liters

- 23 lbs

VX5000 - $795

- 65psi

- 298 F

- 3.5 Liters

So ~$1000 for ~75psi, $1800+ for 90psi, or $2300 for 121psi

Even if the increase in performance is only linear, it seems the capabilities per dollar of the Hill Injection smokes the competition. Am I missing something?

Also that said, $1300 more than the 75psi units is also massive... just looking for a little confirmation that the jump from 75-121psi is worth double the money.

In terms of volume, the goal is, on average, one Stage II detail and one wash and wax per day, 20 days a month. I anticipate I`ll be purchasing a hot water extractor for interiors as well, if that factors into anything.

I welcome any and all input & advice!

I`d really be open to any thoughts or advice on steamers for this kind of volume.

What I can offer here is that I wouldn`t trade my Hill Injection for anything... I moved up from a consumer grade unit (Steam Shark; similar to the McCulloch unit many use) and there`s simply no comparison in terms of power. While you really won`t *need* the 121psi high setting on every job, it`s nice to have it when you do need it.

i agree the hill injection has been great for me also. ive used vx5000 a buddy of mine has and it just did not have the cleaning abilty that the hill injection had. also when steaming seats with a microfiber on the brush attatchment the extra power of the hill injection makes it a great cleaning tool when a extrator is not needed.

I have a Carmen Inox and it has a ton of power for interior cleaning. I would advise getting the highest psi and temp levels you can afford.

I am not doing the amount of interior work I used to and am thinking of selling the Carmen. PM me if you have interest.
