Hi,

I have a 2011 BMW X3 with Black Nevada Leather. Somehow my back seat has a few fine scratches in the leather that went through the dye and show up as fine white scratches. You don`t see them at some angles, but in some lighting it`s quite obvious.

I typically wipe the seats clean and use Zaino Z10 on them. Nobody generally sits back there. I think the scratches are from my bag sliding across or off the seat around corners / braking...

I`m hesitant to try shoe polish as it could smear around and ruin peoples pants. I have tried to figure out of the leather is aniline or not (not sure) and thought about trying "Leather Master Scratch Away". Any recommendations? A re-dye seems overkill, but would love to make the seat look new again. Any product recommendations or hints / tips / tricks?

I have Lexol and Zaino at home here if that makes any difference.

Thanks,

Jeff

Since no one sits there, would a Sharpie pen work?

Autopian leather repair advise- shoe polish or a Sharpie Pen?

Sounds to me more like Joe`s used car lot advise (end of rant)

3 years ago I put a few scratches in my drivers seat by stupidly getting in the car with a tool in my back pocket. Touched them up with this leather dye and today they are almost impossible to find Leather Dye :: KIWI care products (http://www.kiwicare.com/kiwimcmssite/us/products/leather/leather-dye.html) My car has coated leather as most do and it worked fine.

Please do not use shoe polish as this will come off on clothing. We produce Leather Repair Pens (http://www.lttsolutions.co.uk/auto.html) specifically for this problem. Available in 250 colours and simple to use.

Hope this helps

Thanks everyone for their feedback. TOGWT I researched many of your FAQS and forum posts on leather care, repair, etc. Does anyone have any experience with the leather master scratch repair?

Judy - Thanks - I`ll look into your pens. How will they blend with adjacent area?

What type of leather finish do you have?

Leather Master™ Scratch Away (A-semi Aniline (Micro pigment) / Non-Coated) is a professional formula designed to erase these light surface scratches and scuffs. It accomplishes this by moving the surrounding dye to cover the area where the colour is missing

In order to maintain the value of your car and the condition of its leather interior, this maintenance should be repeated every two months or so. You`ll be surprised to learn just how easy it is, and how much nicer your car looks, feels, and smells with just this small investment of time and energy

LTT Leather Repair Pens can be colour-matched to most leather finishes and are almost undetectable

Good to see you posting on Autopia again JudyB

Leather Repair Pens are great as you use so little to do the repair so they are usually undetectable. Colour matched means they blend in perfectly to the surrounding area.

Hope this helps

Have you solve your problem?

Could you feel the scratch with your finger tips?

It’s unfortunate that such a beautiful car`s upholstery could be subjected to such a blemish. My recommendation to solve this problem is two simple steps.

Step One: Use a simple leather repair pen. They are available in virtually every color of car upholstery ever made, so it should be easy to find a match. The pen will essentially re-dye the area that has been scratched.

Step Two: Protect the leather with good quality conditioner. My personal recommendation is Tantex (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007XG6MYM), which I have used it for similar applications in car detailing. This will keep the repaired area protected and looking like new. In fact, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to condition the entire interior. You will be glad you did.

Let us know how it turns out. Please post before and after pictures if possible. Good luck.
