Looks like this is how GM is shipping Corvettes now:

I can only imagine all the slapping around this wrap will do against the paint as it goes down the road??

Can you say M A R R I N G ? ? ?

Makes you wonder, do they test these ideas out first to see what happens or just some person thinking they have the next great idea on paper so let`s make it happen. I`m not gonna lie, sitting on the truck it looks well protected but like you`ve stated look what a car cover can do in high winds lol

Have you seen or heard of any problems with them using this type of system? As far as paint marring is concerned?

Sadly not, have only seen the audi`s on the lots, never normally see anyone actually wanting one detailed :P

I`ve seen major marring problems on brand new Audis with this wrap.

This type of "re-usable" car covers for transit have been around for over 12 years.

Normally not seen when a car is transported by truck, but is intended for rail and ship transit.

Dealt with this units going back to Ford using them, Audi, Mercedes, GM, etc, for most of the folks here, you would have to have been in a rail yard or a port facility.

Minor marring may occur in some instances, however they greatly reduce the ferrous oxide particle attachments (rail dust/IFO), acid rain damage and bird dropping damage.

So in other words, as with anything, it`s a trade-off.

As long as they`re not causing major RIDS I`d rather take care of a bit of marring than deal with tons of IFO or etching.
