that almost looks like burn... i`m assuming you ruled out stain?

Take a closer look with a 30X lighted magnifier.

See if there is any cracking, etc.

It would help to know.

my guess is probably the last you want to rely on btw =] but i`ve seen similar when say clear coat failed and the sun faded out hte paint/or the metallic specs oxidized leaving a reddish brown hue...but I`m kind of curious to see what this is (we all love a good mystery) hope it`s nothing serious

I doubt it? the burn theory was just the first thing that came out of my idiotic mouth lol sorry--again I should`ve left my lurker mode on in this case--I would probably wait to see what the smarter guys think

The paint readings in the spot were around 105-108, on the low side but not super low.

Its a honda accord coupe...on the trunk below the spoiler and above the rear bumper.

Looks like the bumper was repainted. Could it be a chemical from that process?
