Anyone have any experience with a newer Kia, specifically a 2012-2013 Optima? Trying to gauge how hard or soft the paint is.

Also, I was told the dealership put something to protect the paint and interior called "Polysteel" .. anyone heard of this and, if so, what is it?

You mean the "clearcoat" don`t you?

It`s PPG and is a standard, OEM clear, same one as on the US made Hyundia`s, Mustangs, some GM`s, some Chryslers, etc.

Polysteel is an aftermarket polymer sealant/etc, small marketing company that "sells the warranty" more than how good the product is.

Nothing special about it other than how good the sales staff at the dealership is at selling it to new car buyers.

So I`m assuming it`ll be pretty easy to get off with dawn or something similar. Apparently they charged $1,900 for the polysteel ... lol

Dawn won`t do much, need to go to mineral spirits first, soak it a bit, then wash it with Dawn or Product A.

My 2012 Sorento has excellent paint quality. The only problem was Diso.
