Last fall the owner of this car wanted his Toyota Avalon detailed as he was passing it on to his daughter.

He liked my work enough that he waited for my schedule to open up this summer so I could do his Honda.

It`s a fun car to drive, but it was way to hot to have the top down.

Well this last weekend I got to work. Temp was in the 90s and very humid in Iowa last weekend. Nasty...

Honda S2000 2003 with 10,700 miles. This is his summer fun car. Hasn`t really seen much TLC in awhile.

I apologize for no before pics, nor under hood, or interior pics.

They were done as well.

The engine bay was fairly clean, but the interior was very dirty, crush leaves, tons of dust, and dirt. The leather seats hard and soiled.

You`ll have to trust me they look 100% better now.

The exterior was in average shape other than a major curb rash on the front bumper down to primer and bad scratches / some down to paint by the rear license plate. I was able to reduce those around the license plate to acceptable condition and it`s less noticeable now.

For the Exterior

Entire Car: Megs Gold Class Wash - Tires/Rims first, then fresh for the top and paint.

Tires/Rims: Eagle Tire/Wheel cleaner, scrubbed with various brushes, and sealed with Poorboys Wheel Sealant. (using up some old products)

Wheel Wells: Megs Hot Shot Tire Shine. - Didn`t like the looks of it on the tires... Too glossy for my taste. (using up old products)

Convertible Top: Megs Gold Class with a bug sponge to scrub the vinyl top. Then 303 to protect, applied with a new tire dressing applicator.

(WOW I was really pleased with this stuff. It really darkened the top and made it look great-almost new looking)

Exterior plastic: 303

Paint: Using my PCXP, A few spots got UNO v3 with 3D Orange/Blk cutting pad. (both bumpers) to reduce looks of the bad spots.

Not 100% removed but more like 75%-80%. I worked the spots slowly with medium and then light pressure. Probably 4-5 passes each.

Then I went over the entire car with SPEED with the 3D Green Polish pad. I worked Speed at 5 and some bad spots got a cpl of passes at SPEED at 6, then back to 5. Wiped off each panel as I went.

SPEED did a great job cleaning up water spots, some RIDS, swirls, and brought out the gloss/depth in the paint that is was lacking.

LSP: Topped/Sealed with POXY. I went over the entire car by hand with POXY and then back to my starting spot began removal.

Removed any smudges and finger prints with HD FREE.

Door jams: HD FREE

Glass: Megs Clarity Glass Cleaner (6 ouncer from Xmas gift pack) Wanted to try it. Pretty nice stuff.

Exhaust: Surf City Killer Chrome

Thanks for Looking....

That is beautiful!

Those cars are real special.

Excellent job. How long did the detail take?

Thank you TD....

Classic style and looks. I`d love to have a yellow one at some point.

Fun car to drive also. 6 speed and the redline is like 9000rpm. crazy...

I had a lot of rubber neckers drive by my house that day.

I was getting a little tired from climbing "down" into and out of it as I cleaned it up. Might of been the heat also?

I`m no speed king that`s for sure nor a professional. I have improved over the years.

My therapy(zen) and hobby more than anything else.

I did over deliver on this job. The owner thought the paint didn`t need much work.

Since it`s a rare classic around my parts, I felt it needed a proper detail and plenty of TLC.

I spent 3-4 hours (2 beers - Summer Shandy`s) on Friday night "just` cleaning the interior around all of the tight crevices behind the seats and under the top. It had dirt/dust/crushed leaves everywhere. Nooks and cranny`s everyone on this car.

It certainly wasn`t my Subaru..

Basically wiped everything down with APC 10-1 ratio and cleaned the leather that night. Shampooed the carpets and vacuumed everything thoroughly. Went though 6 MF towels just removing dirt and dust.

I wanted the carpets to dry overnight.

Saturday I got up at 7am to beat the heat and finished the interior. Took about an hour treating all the plastic and leather.

Used some Danase NuLook for the vinyl and plastic and Danase LeatherRx for the seats. (yep using up old stock)

Turned out really nice...

Then it was on to cleaning the engine with Zep Citrus Cleaner 4-1 ratio, agitated everything with a small brush, let dwell for 5 minutes, and then rinsed.Blow dried any standing water with my air compressor.

As the engine dried with the hood up I cleaned the rims/tires/wheel wells.

Treated the engine with CD2 Engine Detailer.

Removed the dealer sticker off the trunk by request of the owner.

That took maybe an hour or so total for all of the above process.

Then the car got a thorough washed. The paint/convertible top took me maybe 5 hours.

I did hit all the emblems with HDFREE and a brush.

So roughly ten hours total.

It seems to me I get the vehicles/jobs that has never been touched in 3-4 years and the owner wants more done or a more thorough cleaning. So it takes me much longer then one that`s been maintained by the owner or my own vehicles.

As my Insurance Agent in town says to be.. I`m more particular about how my vehicles... LOL

He did stop by and asked me if I got a new car.

I did take plenty of breaks to stay hydrated and grab a bite to eat.

Thanks for looking...

Very nice! Good reflection isn`t easy on light blue metallic, but you pulled it off. I`ve always liked these as well, though mine would be black with red interior. :)

POXY works pretty well on on Silver. Gives it nice depth and reflection.
