I have a customer who owns a 1985 Cutlass. He might have read somewhere that it is not safe to claybar the exterior. Something about it not having a clearcoat? I am in the dark on this also. I`d appreciate it if anyone could let me know if claying this vehicle is a good idea. Thanks.

mbs431- I responded about the claying on the other thread.

Noting that you caught some flak on that other thread about "if you have to ask...", I`m gonna add my 2₵ along those lines, hope you don`t take offense: you`d better have a pretty complete understanding of working on older single stage before you do this car. I`m assuming it has the original paint, so remember that "it`s only original once". I`d hate for you to have an "oops!" and trash it, or do something that`ll cause it to fail after a while. My GMs of that vintage didn`t exactly have high-quality paintjobs, not by a long shot. If it has any factory decals you need to be *VERY* careful with/around those too.
