How big is your shop? Looks like there`s a pretty big office? Are you guys doing any dealer cars?

We have a 2500 sq foot shop with about 200 sq feet dedicated to office and retail product sales. The rest of the shop is production. Above our office is an open area upstairs we use as a lounge / break room.

We are doing dealer cars to help pay the bills for now. The plan is once we get established enough to spin the wholesale work to a few hired hands and continue using the shop for retail detailing and product sales.

Nice. What does it cost for a place that size? I`m just above you in BC and the rents here can get outrageous.

our rent is 1800 a month. We got lucky and stumbled into a great place with an even better landlord. Utilities run about $200 a month even with 4 metal halaide lights

PolishedImage- Hey, you work on an interstingly wide range of vehicles!

And I couldn`t help but notice how wide the tires on that (?1969?) Roadrunner are

That utility bill sounds low! Back when I had the commericial building I woulda loved to get away with $200/month!

And how large is that other area where you do production? Good to know you guys are tapped into both high-end and dealer cars.

never measured it out to be exact but our space is a perfect rectangle with our retail shop taking up the front left ~250 sq feet. The entire rest of the shop is dedicated to production. Some pics to help explain:

This shot is from the landing on the staircase looking down into our entire shop:

This shot is from the railing of our upstairs `louge` or CLUBKillmer as we like to call it:

http://i1191.photobucket.com/albums/z480/polishedimagedetailing/DSCN1181.jpg

The far back corner was turned into our stock room for retail backstock, detailing supplies and equipment backups:

http://i1191.photobucket.com/albums/z480/polishedimagedetailing/DSCN1182.jpg

Next to our stock room is the back bench used for shop work and metal polishing.

In the corner we store long term projects and just behind hte bug you can see our touchless tire mounter poking out:

This picture is taken from the metal polishing bench looking forward. I took all these pictures this morning to keep the same cars in the shot for reference.

We keep paint, building supplies and our wash bay supplies under the staircase. The large black mat on the left side is our water reclamation mat. When we roll that out the area just in front of the garage dor on the inside becomes our light duty wash bay. We have an off site area about a block away we use as an outside washing area for really nasty stuff.

This is another good looking down shot thats a little less cluttered:

Now moving inside:

This shot is taken looking from the door to our bathroom forward to the front of the shop:

From the door of the bathroom looking to the side:

same side closer to the door: (plug:, thanks to Tony at Stiches upholstry for doing a kick butt job on our reclaimed barber chairs!)

The shop and office looks killer! Where did you get the display cases and the wire cases to hold the supplies? I am in need of some of these for my shop to hold car models, pictures, etc.

Nice looking shop. It looks like it can get crowded - a good thing.

The glass display cases came from Ikea, we just painted the bases and the tops to match our colors. The wire basket ones came from Target. Super cheap and easy to put together!

Ikea: DETOLF Glass-door cabinet - beech effect - IKEA (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10011055/)

Target: Target.com : Furniture, Baby, Electronics, Toys,...: Target (http://www.target.com/p/Wire-Cube-Shelving-System/-/A-10882811#?lnk=sc_qi_detailbutton) (go to Target though as the same system was only 25 bucks instore and came with enough pieces to make the 6 cube set up I have)

Awesome, thanks for the info! I will be buying a few of these glass cases for sure! Only thing I am worried about with the wire basket types holding microfibers is dirt and dust getting in them even if they are in a clean environment... Have you have any issues with this after they sit for a month or so?

I`m not noticing a problem with that. We rotate our stock too because its in the window so we want to avoid color fade so maybe thats helping with the towels too.
