First two are Optimum Opti-Coat 2.0 details.

2008 BMW 335. This is my brother`s car, I hit it hard about 18 months ago to remove some buffer and spider swirls that were on the car when he bought it. Since then, he has washed it himself using Optimum No Rinse and lately at my suggestion, mixing in OCW every few washes. The paint still looked really good so I just did a clean-up polish.

2004 Chevy Suburban. Originally I went out to remove the scuffing the owner put into the paint when he debadged the back end. After seeing how the tail gate turned out, he wanted the whole Suburban done.

2006 Lexus GX470. I had detailed his Ferrari F360 and Maserati Quattroporte a few weeks prior, they finally had a weekend day that they could let the mom-mobile sit for more than a couple hours. Looked scary inside at first but once vacuumed, it wasn`t nearly as bad as expected.

2006 Lexus IS350. Owner has been a customer since this car was just a few months old. Never really had to go hard into the paint because he has me out pretty regularly.

Optimum G-P-S using an Optimum microfiber polishing pad and my PC

Clearkote Silky Moose Wax (new wax I have been asked to field test)

Why did I use an all in one product and then wax over it? Because the car only needed light polishing and G-P-S fit the job for that perfectly. Plus if you do wax over it, the paint is already quite slick and waxes literally glide on over it.

2009 Bentley GTC. Apparently this car is up for sale, owner simply wanted it cleaned up, really wasn`t interested in the correction it really needs. Just garage pictures, it was raining on and off the whole time I was there.

Scott, looks like the weather is treating you good too! This has been a busy month for me also! Working on putting up some stuff, new Nikon, just found out about 5 jobs pictures aren`t even viewable! Oh well! As always Scott, nice work! The Lexus looks like wet paint!

2007 Cadillac Escalade. Owner had recently purchased this lightly used Escalade and wanted an improvement on the dealer prep. Really didn`t need too much, it was in better shape than expected.

Two days later, I was back out to take care of their 2007 Mercedes SL600. He`d purchased the car in Houston before moving up here. Dealer prep on this one was pretty bad. Lots of spider swirls and buffer holograms. Hard to capture how bad they really were due to the low sun angle this time of year.

This was not going to be a full correction, the owner isn`t sure he wants to put in the time necessary to keep it perfect. He`d rather I come out 3-4 times a year and continually refine the finish with each trip. We decided that two steps would be enough to make a noticeable reduction in the swirls. If he can keep the car relatively swirl free until the next polishing session, we may hit it hard again.

I decided to try something a little different on this one. I`d use Optimum G-P-S as the final polish plus protection, then wash off the compounding dust with ONR mixed with Optimum Car Wax to add additional depth. I think it turned out really deep and wet. :)

As you can see, the paint isn`t 100% swirl free but there has been a pretty big reduction in them. When you are limited to two steps, you can`t always get rock hard paint perfect.

Scott, what`s the contamination eraser like?

Scott, what`s the contamination eraser like?

A sponge in the middle with sticky rubber piece on each end. One side is more textured than the other. Not sure if it is aggressive enough for heavy paint overspray but seems to work well on normal contamination issues.

So does it take the place of clay?

Scottwax
02-03-2012, 09:02 PM
Yes, it is meant as an alternative to clay. Seems really gentle on the paint, didn`t notice any marring when I used it.

Hey Scott how would you compare Optimum power clean vs a woolite solution for leather and vinyl cleaning?
