Do I need to wash my car before applying FK 146 ??? They say " Rather than washing frequently, you can give your vehicle a 5 minute cleaning any time that has lasting benefits. Save time and save water. It`s 5 minutes well-spent!"

Is 146 that good????

It`s not a magic elixir. Use it like you would any other detailer IMO.

Right. IF you`re the sort of person who uses QDs as quickie washes, then the FK146 oughta be a little bit better than, say...FK425. But it`s no "rinseless wash" or anything like that, it`s just a very good QD.

Same ol` same ol`...beware of ad-copy promises. They say that [stuff] about most any QD.

Definitely in my uses, one of the better cleaning QDs and by "cleaning" i mean "pickup" gunk type.

It is my choice for car show maintenance when I am helping customers, doesn`t streak in the sun and picks up dust perfectly.

I bet I used it to clean wheels (the rust dust from initially applying the brakes post-wash) for maybe a year before I ever appreciated how nice it is as an all-over QD! Guess I was a bit slow on the uptake, though I will say that on the nicer cars I do generally prefer something else. Now that my stable is pretty much half-and-half beaters/Autopian I`m using the FK146 a lot more often.

Lol so funny, I use 146 after breaking loose the rotor rust as well.

I love the stuff, my customers who do alot of QDing at shows and after pulling it out (The dry day only drivers) really like how slick it is and how it doesn`t streak forcing them to rub and wipe hard which they know is a no-no

What would you users say about 146`s antistatic abilities?

For me 425 is having decent ones, in the sense that instead of the car looking dusty say 1hr after a new coat of wax or a waxy QD, it takes 2-3 days.

I FEEEEEEL like 146 seems to be better applicationally although I believe 425 to have more anti-static "pureness"(man, I have trouble with connecting brain to fingers with these posts lol).

What I mean is, obviously rubbing paint equates to friction and thus static charge. While none of them have a forcefield effect about them, 146 seems in my use to be less of a chance to be streaky, and thus less need to wipe over and over.

That post makes me sound like I am 1 over the other - they are both awesome.

Eh, can`t really say myself, I don`t even get that anti-static effect with FK425 :nixweiss Somebody here once joked that I must be "using it backwards" :chuckle:

I dismissed the anti static claim long ago. FK`s QD is a good enough a product as-is, I don`t even see the need to promote that.

Definitely, as I wrote, antistatic doesn`t by any chance mean that dust doesn`t stick to the finish. It just takes a little longer before becoming noticeable in *my* experience with FK425.

Just keep in mind - like with all the "nano" stuff coming out (where its only a size indicator (DG siloxanes are `nano` by that class) is that Anti-static doesnt mean a super duper force field - it simply means "has something in it compared to a carnauba wax or QD that does not promote attraction". Basically.
