This took an insane amount of time, but it was so worth it. Has anyone else done this before?

HOLY BALL$$ Audi released a concept car about 10-15 years ago that was entirely polished aluminum. I have been dreaming about a car that looks like that ever since then. That`s astonishing!

that`s incredible-i`ve always wondered what that car would look like polished to a mirror. That`s got to be difficult to drive next too on the freeway!

There are certain concepts that I have trouble comprehending: the depth and breadth of the universe, sub-atomic particles, the space-time relationship, muons that travel faster than light, why women are always right, and now you`ve added a new one for me - just how long it took to get that perfect finish and how you did it.

That`s just spooky shiny. Great work.

Fantastic!!

" If my calculations are correct, when this baby hits eighty-eight miles per hour... you`re gonna see some serious sh1t. " to quote Doctor Emmet Brown!!

So come on. Spill the beans.... what did you do, how long did it take.... or did a time machine help!! :)

You Can See Yourself In A Mirror Polished DeLorean (http://jalopnik.com/5459955/you-can-see-yourself-in-a-mirror-polished-delorean)

Polished Delorean with Ohio plates. Is everyone polishing them now?

Along with loads of wool ,and probably general foam pads as well, the potential products I can think of for the job, of course, are the Mothers and Megs metal polishes, English Custom Metal Polishes, Rolite, and the Wolfgang/Blackfire aluminum polish kits-->I now have one, and I`ve played around with it a little bit. Later this Fall I plan to polish up all of my exhaust :D ,especially the heat shields.

Nice work I think detailing this car makes black cars look easy. Also these cars took like 10 seconds to hit 60mph car looks faster than it is, still I like them.

Its weird that once you polish away the stainless "extruded" look you can`t get it back - may ruin resale for some of the Delorean - though I wonder, as I know very little about these.

The other delorean wasn`t polished below the body line and he didn`t even try to polish. the hood.

Yes this took forever. Around 90 Man hours and the owner has decided to remove the molding and have that polished as well. So We`ll see how that goes. As far as my technique I have polished alot of metal, done aircraft paint, and worked in metal smithing. I used experience from all of these fields to achieve the shine. If you know someone with some money and a Delorean send this to him and tell him I`m willing to travel.

ummm I don`t know about these DeLorean`s but after Audi and Jag showed off their aluminum polished A8 and XJ, it kind of became a "big" deal with the middle eastern/tuner crowd to have chrome paint.

A E46 M3 was one of the 1st to show up with this nasty paint job, than followed by McLaren SLR, Buggatti Veyron 16.4, a Gold Chrome colored Ferrari 599 etc. Good thing this trend has died off almost completely.

To the OP, great job and holy balls at your man hours.
