Hey guys,

Detailing noob here. I have the following problem:

The windscreen of my bike has severe spiderwebs and a light surface scratch. It is made of plastic.

I have the following tools:

Poorboy`s SSR 1 light abrasive swirl remover

Poorboy`s SSR 2.5 medium abrasive swirl remover

White, Black, and Orange foam Lake Country pads

What would you recommend I do? I was thinking...

1 high speed pass with SSR 2.5 + Orange pad.

A few medium speed passes with SSR 1 + White pad.

Finish with Wax + Black pad.

Any advice?? I`m worried about hazing the plastic because its clear. I have 0000 steel wool, should I go at it with that first? I have some clay bars too, but the windshield doesn`t look contaminated and I don`t think they`ll do anything.

Definitely not steel wool man. Just try a small spot in the bottom right corner using your least aggressive method and work your way up. Be sure and not let the plastic get too hot though. Let us know how it goes.

Agreed. Test a spot. High speed is relative and plastic won`t give you much warning. It simply hits a certain temp and then disaster. Keep the pad as flat as possible to the screen.

Hard to tell from the photo but it doesn`t look like the scratches are too deep. I recommend starting with your planned 2nd step combo and see if it gets you anywhere. If not I would step up to the SSR 2.5 on the white pad. I would be surprised and a bit concerned if you need to go with the orange pad with that machine.

Worth a shot. If you damage it just buy a new one. Plastic windscreens aren`t expensive.
