I`m currently using the Zaino Z-2 Pro and ZFX combination to seal my customers cars, but I`d like to offer customers an alternative and I`m afraid that I`ve slipped off the cutting edge of car care knowledge.

What are some of the best options currently available for waxes and sealants?

Thank!

Chris

For looks Souveran is my choice. However Colliinite 845 would be my pick for customers... Collinite Liquid Insulator Wax #845, liquid wax, heat-resistant wax, car wax (http://www.autogeek.net/collinite-insulator-wax-845.html)

For sealants UNO and POXY are my choice HD Uno HD Poxy Professional Sizes (http://www.3dproducts.com/HD-Uno-and-HD-Poxy-both-32-OZ.html) With the above you can`t go wrong.

Good price on these products as well.

For many years (twenty plus) my polymer sealant of choice was an acrylic polymer (Klasse) I then converted to a polymer sealant (Zaino) and used it for approx fifteen years, but automotive sealants and coatings(Opti-Coat™) have evolved immensely over the last five years or so and have changed paint protection to an inordinate degree.

This coating can only be removed by polishing, sanding, or solvent paint removers. They become an extension of the clear coat, with a similar hardness (9H) a thickness of 2-4 µ (microns) It exhibits resistant to alkaline car wash concentrates and acid attack (acid rain, bird excrement, etc)

are you looking for looks or long lasting protection. opti seal and fk1000 last about as long or longer than zaino and for me offer better protection. for something that lasts longer there are several coatings available (i.e. opti coat).

I am in the process of trying Megs Ultimate wax and after about a two months it is still going strong. i augment it with Ultimate spray wax once a month.

The newest technology in the sealant department is the oil in water emulsions like Blackfire Wet Diamond or Menzerna Powerlock. They are much easier to use and deliver stunning looks, are they better than Zaino? Can`t really say, but certainly easier and faster to use.

Coatings, as mentioned, are also the latest craze.

I just used 3R HD UNO on my car to:

1. Washed car with Optimum Car Care No Rinse Wash and Shine

2. Clayed with Black Fire Clay Bar

3. Cut with a white LC pad & UNO

4. Polish with a black LC pad & UNO

5. Finish with a gold LC pad & UNO

6. Seal with red LC pad & POXY

7. Clean & Polish the Tips with 3R HD Metal

It looks stunning, but time will really tell here in the high desert of Bend, OR.

Winter is approaching.

I`ve noticed a big difference in looks depending on the color of the paint and metallic flakes. I think that`s an important part in the final product. I like my collinite 476s and pinnacle souveran on dark paints. I prefer sealants on lighter colors though.

For the last year or so I love the way Opti Seal and FK1000 look on my silver Infiniti.

anyone tried prima hydro-seal ? 10 month of claimed durability is a huge improvement over powerlock and should look pretty much the same.
