I treated both of my parent`s cars with Opti-Coat in September 2009 when my Dad bought my Mom a new Lexus ES350. My Dad has maintained them since, using either ONR (original version) or conventional car wash soap, guess it just depends on his mood. The dealership did wash it once, my Dad wasn`t very happy because he had told them not to. I detailed their cars again last week, approximately 22 months after the initial application. No need to polish the Lexus, the coating was holding up well and the paint was still swirl free. Could only manage a couple good sun shots, the metallic flake was making the sun spots flare up into a huge size, rendering the pictures useless. The paint also has excellent gloss and wetness and the water beads run quickly down the sides of the car. The paint cleaned up very easily, took no effort to get some light tar accumulation along the bottom of the car off. My Dad says he is very happy he only has to wash the car to keep it looking its best.

These pictures were taken after an ONR wash, no QD, no waxing. Hard to get good shots in their driveway, my car was behind the Lexus and we really didn`t have anywhere else to move it at the time.

Are the cars garaged? How was the surface, was it still smooth? Claying needed?

Cars are garaged at home, paint was still really smooth, only had to clay the top of the rear bumper and I didn`t get much off it.

so it only had on the opti-coat for the entire 22 months, no other lsp as applied in between? that`s incredible longetivity.

Told my Dad he wouldn`t have to wax for at least 3 years, he seemed happy about that at the time, pretty happy now that it is holding up well.

Seems to support Optimum`s claim that it will last the life of the paint.
